I used to go off with a mate around 1976 who drove for WCBP in a R reg 400 Sed Atk, they were the first motors afaik, in the new orange livery, they were a dark army type khaki green before then, ERF A series and Atki Borderers. Any pics of any of these anybody?

Andrew Woodhouse has recently doubled his fleet by purchasing a Volvo.
Photographed alongside his Scania , they look very tidy , proving that new top-of-the-range flash
is neither necessary nor compulsory nowadays.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Cheers for that Hodge.
I might sound like a sad anorak here but is that a genuine 401 or a 400 with a 401 grille on it, going by the door handles. I reckon Dennis might know.

Its a 400 with a 400 grille and a Rockwell back axle is that anorak enough

how the flip would you know what the back axle is ■■? ( im impressed that you do by the way ) :astonished:

By the hub shape.but you can’t see it on the pic, but ■■■■■■■■ Rockwell Fuller was a common combination on that marque, and as far as I know with that co.

You can tell by the half shaft bolts (Or studs), The other axles that were fitted were their own group axle design, Hub reductions Regards Larry.

NOW THATS A 400 WITH A 401 GRILLE

Quite correct, Plus its a fiberglass one, much better than the original one, We got from a firm at Fleetwood Nortons I think they were called, They made lots of panels for this type of motor, Regards Larry.

You’ve beat me to it Larry (as usual!),as long as Seddons could get away with it they used their own in house Group axle which was all well and good behind a 180LXB/220Cu but it certainly wasn’t up to the job behind the 240 LXB as we found out to our cost! That Albright & Wilson Sed/Atk definitely has the Rockwell axle(rightly spotted by Lance B.) as this was the only alternative axle to the Group on the Sed/Atks.The last two British motors I bought had the Rockwell axle otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered as we had nowt but lumber with the last Group axles we had in our 240 trunk motors.

Another one, this was bought from Malcolm Harrison’s at Stoke. It was previously owned by a firm from Appleby area and was later owned by a Alan Bamber from Preston.
