Hi Bewick, Did the Beaver and its driver teach you your trade ? Not so sure about who built the Comet cab I don’t think it was Holmalloy but who knows ? I was always under the impression it was built by County Garage but I don’t recall them having a bodyshop, maybe Bobby Hind at Durranhill. Unfortunately there are no photos of the Comet, I can visualize it looking very similar to the Beaver design but rather more angular.and remember it had a high floor your knees touched the steering wheel. I remember going to Whalley one Sunday morning with RWB with a load of pigs, climbing Samelsbury bank foot to the floor when plod passed us and pulled us in when we got through the lights at the top. " Putting a lot of black smoke out there driver" he says, “No I doot it” says RW, "Rev it Up " pc, so out of gear and at half revs it was sounding as if it was working hard. “There is nee smoke theer” says RW, copper “Well there was” RW “Thoo must hev imagined it”
copper “Get on your way I shall be watching you” so we set off RW driving as if he had his slippers on only half revs through each gear until we were rolling merrily along. Just another brush with the law we escaped .

0Hi CG, You are right that A.D. Boyes had an Albion Reiver, it was not named “The Fastest Reiver in the North” but it certainly was with a jockey that could make it sing, Bewick will back me on that. Here it is with a load of timber from Tyne Dock, South Shields en route to Whitehaven in late summer 1963. The location is the A69 between Bardon Mill and Haltwhistle. I was riding shotgun with a leg in plaster and had my camera with me.

Hello Leyland 680

Thankyou for that excellent photo marra and the information on the truck

I see!!

Is that a Tyson Burridge behind it??

Kindest regards
CG

Yes CG that is Tyson’s original Reiver and one of the only photographs that exist of it.
Cheers Leyland 600. PS I see that I have been uprated to 150 bhp plus according to your last post.

It strikes me as almost Bulmans spec, was it a diddy midlift?

Looks like a tag axle with alloys to me. Could be anyone,
Talking of ex bulman motors, I passed a David Fox motor this afternoon on the a1, ex bulmans Daf I assume by the reg PX57 and a baby midlift, but fully painted in that blue white and orange.

There’s a few of the old 57s around in various companies, I’ve seen one pulling an Armstrongs tipper in disguise, and the other pulling a tanker in Diary Crest Aspatria.

Correct it is a tag, I was on a mobile and couldn’t see the full pic.

S A Smith Logger perhaps?

Good gesses dew and C10 HOO

I found out today its new owner when I passed it at Kingstown

Its actually A & H from Carlisle

I’m quite surprised as I did think Tweddle’s would get it

Many thanks

That’s right dew

The tanker one is PX57 CJF and the Armstrong one is a 58 reg ex Bulman’s DAF XF

Talking of Armstrong’s, they’ve got a green PX registered Renault Premium knocking about

Its often pulling a low loader

I agree it’s not 100% accurate but still

That looks excellent C10 HOO

Only thing I would say is, it could do with been a 6 x 2 rather than a 4 x 2 as Glendinning’s don’t have any 4 x 2 now

Apparently when making the colour scheme it’s 4x2 by default. Can change it to 6x2 in game.
