Culina to join Tesco at 50 mph

Heard today we will be joining the 50 mph club, i appologise in advance for this so please be patient its not our fault. Not sure when or how quick this will happen but dont go taking it out on the drivers, thanks.

Don’t worry about it Baldy. I’ve been doing it on a self imposed basis for a few years and had little adverse reaction. Not that I really give a ■■■■ anyway!

Its just frustrating when you got that 2 hour run back to the yard, its job and knock and you are stuck at flaming 50 mph as everyone else goes flying past.

So you get back to the yard 3 minutes later! Chill out man! :grimacing:

So you’ll only be overtaking me at 50 on the A41 at 4am instead of 55 then? :unamused:

Yeah life can be tough i suppose.

The one good thing about going slower than other trucks is the clear road ahead of you, never coming up behind another truck in front of you, never having to find a gap in the traffic to overtake, bliss.
Our trucks are limited to 85kph and especially in German overtaking bans it is a god send

If only that wwas 100% true.

You find now that instead of someone trying to get past you at 56.1 mph you get them … Yep you guessed it. You also find that you do eventually creep up on other doen turned motors plus the obligatory old biddie that won’t let you pass. :unamused:

There is talk that out trucks are going down to 53 but i have only been there a week and a half paid by the hour so more hours more £££££££££££££££££££

We are salaried so more hours same pay but hey not the end of the world, it’ll take a while for sure to downgrade them all and won’t have to watch my speed on a dual carriageway.

Cullina are just trying to make the trucks as slow as the wharehouse staff  :sunglasses:

Were limited to 83km 52mph and they are getting better fuel figures than limited to 90km 56mph

I here what you are saying but most of the main players are drop n drive now, Morrisons sometimes insist you have to break down a few pallets to help out but most of the others you are not even allowed in their warehouse. Some of the small places check stuff off before letting you go but normally within half hour you’re gone.

What do we reckon, girls; shall we let Culina join the knitting circle and the ‘sitting-down-to-pee-in-lane-one-only’ club?

I’ve been through the ‘drop’ to 51 mph - along with being seen in a new fleet of auto’s rated at 310. It was initially seen as much a personal insult similar to being presented with a My Little Pony butty box each.

But I reckon that the impact on my virility has been negligible. Eg., I still scratch myself in the same places; I still prefer strong coffee to those skinny latte things and reckon that a wholemeal tortilla wrap will never beat thick, white, council house bread for greasy bacon and brown sauce to be served up in. It’ll always be a bog that I use - and not a ‘loo’.

It seems that the environmental argument to save juice & the planet, etc, is gaining favour with the accountants. We’re not gonna beat the realities that are currently affecting the management of fleets so maybe dont take it as a challenge to one’s (gay?) pride or the way we mince/walk. Try to see it as a bonus that you’ll now only ever overtake those few aged Metros that are still out there and the occasional Micra…

Perhaps Culina could accompany the shift with some counselling …or training on how to be good with colour?

Anyone else up for hop-scotch & skipping :frowning:

I like sitting at 50mph nice and peaceful our trucks could never get limited down as our night trunks are too tight already so ive got the best of both worlds do 50mph but have an extra 6mph for hills and the like.

Also someone correct me if i wrong but tesco aren’t limited to 50mph their trucks can do 56mph but each driver gets a isotrack report if thy got over 50. So its the driver that is limited not the truck? Thats my understanding of tesco trucks.

Well I think the 50 mph brigade are selfish and are a danger to others on the motorway, they should be made to watch a film of the pantomime behind you lot, it is bad enough with cars now doing 45 …50 to save fuel.I have just lately been getting stuck behind cars in the truck no overtake lanes …why not just get rid of motorways and use the hard shoulder as a lane if pricks are going to set there own little speed limit.

You’re wrong. Consider your self corrected!
