Bold bloke will be along later,
He’s just moved from Culina after a long time there to Asda, so he’ll be your best bet.
Depending on what you want (days/nights)
I do know that Culina have just taken on a few drivers and that there can be a fair bit of hanging about at nights .
You also may be required to have the odd night out but your pre warned in advanced but again it depends as it really only happens on nights if things go Pete tong
Culina pay £30,200 for an average 48 hr week, overtime is only paid on a day off if you want it, the kit is very good they have some new Daf XF’s coming soon and also have some new Volvos and Mercs, the job is very easy a lot of RDC work and a lot of collections which you will get some hanging about. They will monitor your driving habits but if you are good at keeping your head down and go quietly about your work you’ll be left alone like i was. Start times basically are 24 hrs a day as it’s chilled work but you will have a 3 hr start window and that will be the same all the time.
There could be a few nights out but not too many but depending on your start time, night shifts are limited to a 12 hr shift max, you are not really pushed too hard and i never used poa and had bare breaks showing on my tacho and still kept under 48 easy enough. There is no sick pay and the shifts now for newbies are 4 on 2 off or 5 on 2 but that will be Tues to Sat or Sun to Thurs. Not sure if they looking right now but i know they will keep it on file for when they are.
Asda are not recruiting at the moment you’ve just missed the boat on that one.
Anything else just ask i had nearly 7 yrs at Culina.
Culina put an ad on indeed.com this morning .
Just go to culina website , or search LGV drivers @ Avonmouth on indeed
Thanks for the information I have seen that culina have put an advert on there website and indeed. I was hoping they would of done a 4 on / 4 off shift which would of been great. Doing 60 - 70 hours mon to fri on bulk tankers so looking to reduce my hours a bit. Whats the assesment / interview like at culina. I did an online test last year for asda but didnt get the job I,m sure you cant apply for another 6 months if you fail. Do they have a big turn around at culina as they seem to be advertising regular.
Asda is pretty good mate, you would most likely be on a 36 hour contract. Various rota’s mostly 4on 3 off. You stay on the same start time all the time but they have just included a flexibility clause with the latest pay deal but I don’t expect that will affect the drivers to much.
Pay is around £12 per hour plus shift premium which is £3.30 ish between 10pm- 6am. Overtime is an extra £5.18 per hour on any hours over 45 per week (180 hours per four week pay period). I am on a 45 hour 4on 3off contract and work roughly 200 hours per four weeks without working any rest days, I will earn around £38k for this. All time at work is paid including breaks and poa, if you do a night out ( rare, i’ve done 3 in 18 months) you get 15 hours for the day, when you run in you finish whether this is 30 mins or 3 hours into the next shift but get paid the full days pay and £34 night out money.
No rushing around, easy work new kit and plenty of benefits. Some drivers earn over 50k but they obviously do the hours for it.
Is that the pay structure / shifts for avonmouth localboy or is that paid nationaly. I did 4 1/2 years at Gist thornbury and that was the only depot that was salaried all other depots paid hourly including there depot in portbury

So did i.

About a 50 min drive on various roads then a bit of reversing when you get back including a blind side then the normal highway code/drivers hours questions. Interview is normally relaxed ish and just say your flexible and don’t mind nights out.
lesrollins:

Correct, get pass the online section and you then have a very good chance of getting the job.

Not overly big but from time to time folks leave it’s not everyone’s cuppa.

Summed up perfectly, you didn’t mention all the leiu days you can earn though.

Yeah that’s for Avonmouth but i think it’s pretty much the same every where else but iv’e only been there 10 weeks.
Cheers bald bloke I hope you are getting on well at asda and I hope all goes well for you. sounds as if there is money to be made at asda. I think I will try my luck at both and see how it goes.

Like i said Asda ain’t looking at the moment.
The pay structure is roughly the same at all depots however I know nothing about the shifts or rotas elsewhere. As baldbloke mentions with the lieu days you can choose double time plus 1 lieu day or normal time plus 2 lieu days. If you happened to work 15 hours on your bank holiday you could double that to 30 lieu hours! Thats not far short of 3 days off paid. Remember about the online test: asda is all about team work mate, you will not get the job if you pick an answer like “I prefer working on my own”. Its all a load of C*** but just think about what they want not what you prefer.
MMTM . CULINA are not doing the 4 o 4 off or the 5 and 3 it’s all 5 from 7

They were never interested in 4 x 4 for some reason, the 5 x 3 went a couple of yrs ago but they kept the old uns me included on it but in time there won’t be many left still doing it, they do like the 4 on 2 off pattern but not sure if they are still offering that, the 5 on 2 off will probably include a weekend day unfortunately but if your on nights then starting Sunday night is sound.
Who did you say your mate was Nick ?
Thats the fella bald bloke he as been with you for about 12 weeks I have asked him a few questions but always find it best to get as much info as you can.
