Cruise Control Ban

Belgium, well it would have to be Belgium wouldnt it? have banned the use of Cruise Control at busy times on congested roads.

They have introduced a new road sign that says “Cruise Control” with a line through it!

I dont know how the hell they are going to enforce it but the Belgians have ways of extracting money from us

Its a 50 Euro fine or can rise to 1375 Euros if it goes to court and they think an accident was caused by this

But I have been seing these signs for a while now. Was that perhaps the ‘trial’ and now it has become law?

The ban weas first brought in on long stretches of road works and now they have decided to bring it on congested roads as well.
Recently a judge in Liege was cited as saying that the law was unworkable, impractical and extremely difficult to enforce.

Malc…who in their right mind would want to use the cruise control on congested roads anyway…we all need to rest our right foot from time to time…but trust the euros to try and enforce a ridiculous ban…and these idiots want to control our lives over here…god help us…on another note …i worked for a company who`s fitter disconnected all cruise controls after a spate of accidents…including one where the driver fell asleep and ended up on the central barrier…injuring himself very badly…as they say …a time and a place for everything…

It is precisely on speed limited road works etc where the properly used cruise control/variable speed limiter comes into its own. Enables you to set a low steady speed according to the conditions and the restrictions. Avoids stop/start bunching and inadvertant law breaking.

Salut, David.

I agree with Trucky boy, I hardly ever use them, I agree the speed hold is good for towns or roadworks, but it depends on the quality of the make.

Ontime Automotive would not have them fitted

The best thing I drove was a MAN 321 with a variable speed limiter
