Crowfield Truck Rally 27 May 2007

The 2nd Annual Crowfield Truck Rally was held today and yesterday at Crowfield, near Stowmarket, Suffolk. It was organised by East Coast truckers charity and was an event to raise money for the ECT cause.

Well it was a flying visit for me as I had other stuff to do today but a great line up, so here goes with the pics. You might notice that these are specially for those members with an 85" monitor!!!

This is the 3 series V8 belonging to Frosts of Stanton, who were also represented by a couple of newer Scanias. What a beauty. (Note polishing kit!!)

Next a very tidy XF belonging to Transglobal from Spalding.

Not sure who this Topline belongs to, anybody know?

The following one is owned by Eurolink and works on containers, nice looking truck:

Paul Arthurton’s 3 series, still looks very respectable…

Next a rear cab view of a couple of Scanias, the black & gold one owned by John Hogan Transport, the other, you will be surprised to learn, by Brian Carberry!!

Leggetts from Woolpit were well represented, more pics to follow.

A few more nice looking motors now, starting off with a line up of Leggetts Volvos:

… had to get a snap of the famous V8 badge somewhere so here it is…

…and here is the Scania it belongs to:

next up is Kindle’s newly sprayed 530, looking absolutely immaculate!! Sadly as you can see he wasn’t around to congratulate when I passed thru.

These 2 Scanias are in a Harrington livery but appear to be owned by Jobe Transport from Ipswich.

Another shot of the Hogan motor, no sign of the Longline :frowning:

…and no show in Suffolk would be complete without the Wilson 141, so here it is!

Yes, there’s more, but just a few.

This was a shot I took whilst trying to be a bit arty, the Jobe Transport / Harrington Scania again…don’t look at this after you’ve had a few pints, it makes you feel a bit seasick…

Then another view of the Woolpit wonders…

another nice old 3 series:

Euromat’s asleep in this one!!

The 3 series now sporting the CDC livery…

Cant remember of I already posted this one:

and finally this ol’ booty from Combs:

I’ve amalgamated all the posts into this one now for easier browsing, enjoy!!!

I hear it turned into a bit of a mud bath later on!!!

could of been worse, could of been the seddon atki, or fluffs truck… :open_mouth:

i hope i can make ther next one, such a great weekend!

easy now mat. that seddon atki i have more than a passing interest in as in a finacial interest   bet it was the only truck to drive out with no assistance though. mind the crane would have lifted most of the others no problem.

i thought it may of been mate

there were a few near the gate which escaped without getting towed, but then they just stopped everyone and they used the tractor to tow everyone to safety!

   . did have to push simon to get a space. was unfortunate that owing to prior commitments (outlaws coming over) that i could not make it to the show.

here you go brian, 2nd oldest there and certainly oldest working truck there!

cheers mat. can i get a print of you one day for the wall please. thanks

hang on, what one you lot chatting on? I posted on the other one!!! No wonder you haven’t replied!

Sorry, I originally did 3 seperate posts then had the great idea of putting them all on one!!

ok, so we on this one? Anyway, yes it was a mud bath at the end, not many made it off without being towed by the tractor. One that did was the old Seddon Atki, no effort required. Two more would have been the pair of Wilson heavy haulage outfits, they were moving around with ease when i got towed out, but didn’t see them go, they were bloked in by all the others. All the rest were towed out (a couple actually had to be towed into position on the Saturday…but we won’t go into that! )
Have to sort out my pics, they are not good due to the awful weather, but,

Mine next to Stevo’s.

Stevo’s Frog (cab was reasonable, but chassis contained half a grain silo, and he wouldn’t let the judges inside to have a peek either! Still, more effort was made than Euromat!).

oi less of that, i did a diesel tank, and all the plastic on that scania, who won a prize eh??!!! (well credit to badger and the crew who did a very good job of cleaning it!!)

was the signwriter drunk when he applied the Tannington lettering?

and yes Badger did tell me you managed 15 mins worth of cleaning! (saw his silver edition Scania today, got a wave from the driver but didn’t wave back in time!)

i expect so, what else is there to do round here!!!

that would be shaun, top bloke! i did more than 15 minutes, i did at least 20 minimum!!

see she works every day and never misses a beat that old girl. put some of this new fangled rubbish to shame eh

it wasnt half a silo of grain only half a ton!!! believe it or not i watched one of wilsons double drives getting towed out!! tbh matt i saw you gently rubbing a cloth over the diesel tank but didnt really see any effort going into it!! the most you did to that truck was draw the curtains!!
