Hi just been offered an urgent job down to Split.
Although no problem with the E.U. side of things (over every week) am not too au fait out of the E.U.
Would appreciate some help with the following questions.
What condition are the roads in?
Do I need a visa to visit Croatia?
Does the load need to have a carnet?
Does the truck need T.I.R.?
It’s years since I was there, but you didn’t need a visa and I doubt you do now.
I travelled on a TIR carnet and needed a GV60 for the trailer. The roads are fairly standard eastern European, which means not as good as in the eu, but nothing too traumatic.
Hopefully someone with more recent experience can confirm this.
You wouldnt need a TIR Carnet for the truck or load. Treat it like you would a load to Swiss. i.e. invoices and an EUR1
Before I went I would check who was going to do the clearance & pay for it otherwise you could end up out of pocket.
A call to Martintrux or someone at Western docks will help as they willl know which agents are active in Udine or can you use the ferry from Bari or Ancona?
we still do a bit, mainly the dockyards at split and zadar - as malc said no TIR as it isn’t recognised by the croatians, so MAKE SURE the agent on the border is sorted and somebody has spoken to them before you go anywhere, they must have all details and import authority from the consignee, no visa required
the roads are great, motorway all the way from any northern border crossing up to Split, costs about €100 for a truck. the traffic is very heavy this time of year though.
you need a permit or a
CEMT book to enter Croatia by truck
a ferry leaves from split and zadar to ancona in italy every night.
Thanks for all the help.
Job got cancelled last minute, bit of a shame was looking forward to it.
Last week consisted of loading out of our yard tipping Vienna reloading out of Milan and Novaro for Northampton. Must do a diary someday soon.
