Crash on the m271 today

dailyecho.co.uk/news/1006805 … way_crash/

Hope the driver is ok

I can’t work it out from the picture, has the tipper gone into the back of the recovery truck??

my daughter works in the office where the truck is based near fareham, will ask her later.will update if i find out anything…

19t of coal on a muck shifting tipper? No wonder it was all over the carriageway, would’ve been piled high. Not saying that had any bearing on the accident.
I can’t see the picture of the lorry close enough on my phone, are they pulling the driver out or are they passing something into the cab?

According to our national incident report, this was fatal. Very sad.

Fire service are using the recovery truck as a work platform by the look of it, have done it myself in the past.

I think they got that bit wrong Nathan, don’t think you will get 19 ton of coal on a muck shifting tipper. We use bulkers to carry coal.

I couldn’t make out what the load was John; Could just be dark clean stone…19t of shingle on a muck tipper is bad enough (just look at the roundabouts near Faringdon and Stanford In The Vale).

There was another bad one on the M2 yesterday, happened at 0900 and they were just putting it back on its wheels at 1600. Again, hope the driver is OK.

The newspaper report said it was coal.
