Crash on A1 Catterick 22/04/13

Evening gents,
I was on my way home last night when I passed what looked like a reefer across the southbound carriageway. Loads of blue lights and highways in attendance but no ambulance. Just wondered what was going on and if the driver is okay?

Cheers SB

"A North Yorkshire Police Spokesman said that an articulated lorry hit a vehicle belonging to a roadworks contractor, near to the A1 Southbound Catterick Junction at about 2330 on Sunday 21st April 2013.

The lorry driver suffered minor injuries but no one was seriously hurt.

The road was closed until shortly after 0400 on Monday morning. The contractors vehicle has been “demolished” by the impact."

A passing witness tweeted: “A truck just crashed into a motorway workers van, southbound on the A1. Truck nearly jumped the central reservation and hit us. Hope everyone is OK.” In a further tweet, he added: “I’m OK. Just proper freaked out and shaken. It looked like the back end of the truck was going to swing right out in front of our car. Horrible.”

Cheers for the reply.
Looked a nasty crash, pleased everybody was okay.

SB.
