I live near Cranswick Foods in Watton, Norfolk. The drivers are all full time on the books at this depot. I left my CV with them but the jobs do not come up very often as the company tend to keep hold of their staff. The lorries are very new and always spotless.

Is this the one at Preston ,hull,if so we used too do a lot of work for them, full loads into co-op,cardinal,lea green etc, then take trays back in there.
Very easy work, just reverse on bay, they’d load you, then drive to co-op and reverse on bay and they’d tip you ( have a feeling at time you had too tip it yourself at cardinal).
Trays easy enough as well, they’d load them lea green, then you’d take them to hull, think you tipped it ( wheeled it too back door) .
Very easy if it’s the right place,no idea of wages etc,but as above trucks always looked the part.

I applied for a job with their predecessors, Bowes of Watton and was told “we prefer not to employ English people” .

It’s the 1 I n preston I phoned, got told they just use agency

And I wonder what would be said if they stated, “We only employ English people here.”

That would probably be deemed to be racist, whereas the other is a preference.

a few years ago I was considering joining the police or similar, i was thinking of this one day when a double decker bus passed me, on the sides and the rear the west midlands police force were advertising for new recruits, great i though till i read the other bit 75% of applicants were required from the ethnic community… positive racism at its best, and the reason i never applied… if they can openly do this imagine the problems behind closed doors?

The fact that they’re in Hull should tell you all you need to know…

How a company from a dump that was voted two years’ running as the worst place in the country to live has the bare-faced cheek to use the word “quality” on their trailers is beyond me.

And as for this “City of Culture” nonsense, I can only imagine that the people who gave Dull this ridiculous “award” now have a greatly enhanced financial lifestyle :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:
