Some of the trailers at our depot are crabbing quite a bit. I’m not talking about those with steering axles, thought some do, these are the fixed axles 13m/13.6m trailers. By degrees it’s somewhere in the order of 6-9 inches out of true mostly running with the back of the trailer nearer the kerbside.
This has been a steady decline since when new, about 3-4 years ago, the problem didn’t exist. My theory is the repeated bay parking has knocked the chassis out of line.

No
But take a Messuring Tape and messure from kingpin to left Side of first axle and it musst be same lenght to right Side.
that may be OK
But what may be wrong is the hight of Trailer at Rear-end left compared to right.
Then the airbag needs adjusting.
If anything were lose you wouldnt have passed the MOT and that on the hole Fleet gets anything lose isnt real
Aye,good chance the u-bolts have come loose although a quick tap of hte hammer on the 6 week should show that up.
Bloody hell I’ve expended some sweat in my time undoing u-bolts to change a broken spring I can tell you.
If your talking about the fleet I think you are then your right, I’ve noticed a few that don’t follow true around the yard. The 10m are worse though and put it down to a worn 5th wheel on the shunt tug!

Can you speak & write in another language enough to be understood ?
Hiya …IF you say most of the trailers are crabbing…unit and trailer not lined up…you could check the unit.
if the front axle on the unit is out of line it could make it look like the trailer is running out…how old are
your trailers■■? are they all on air■■?
John

Hi John. Its only a few that I’ve noticed the problem with maybe 6/7 out of a fleet in excess of 100, most are less than 4 years old some 6-7 all on air. I don’t have a regular unit so maybe I am seeing he crabbing with a particular unit, hadn’t thought of that. The other comments about loose axles/mounting bushes are outside my field of expertise but we do have a pretty stringent inspection programme and workshop on site.
Thanks for the suggestions gents.
