Probably one for ROG.
I have already taken 3 days of the DCPC, I have been offered a ‘paid for’ ADR course, which I believe is 3 or 4 days towards the DCPC
That means I will have done 6 days of the DCPC, so… do I lose a day or does it roll over?

You will lose a day, I do not believe you can roll it over.

The ADR course can count for up to 21 hours.
The extra 7 hours won’t carry over unless you do it after September 2014.
ADR with a JAUPUT accredited Instructor will give you 21 hours towards your DCPC.
Just remember the instructor has to upload your details before you start each day. I should imagine there will an extra ‘cost’ for that service.
The DCPC doesn’t just start in 2014 and end in 2019 it’s permanently ongoing. As long as any extra hours training is ‘in scope’ why shouldn’t it be credited to your DCPC record?

The rules are that only periodic dcpc hours will count if done within 5 years of the expiry date
There is one exception for those with both PCV and LGV acquired rights they will be allowed 6 years from 09/09/2013 to 09/09/2019 as a one off due to aligned dates

Thanks Rog I didn’t know that as I have PSV and HGV. Glad the dates are going to be aligned

For those with grandfathered rights for both then completing the 35 hours at any time before 09/09/2014 will get a DQC with expiry dates for both at 09/09/2019
If the PCV date of 09/09/2013 is not met but the LGV date of 09/09/2014 is, then from 10/09/2013 to when the 35 hours are completed, no commercial driving of PCVs is allowed
This PCV/LGV cpc thing, I’m not sure if you can combine the dcpc for both.
Or do you have to do 35 hours for the LGV part, And a further 35 hours for the PCV part.

Hi trubster,
As you know, an ADR course can count towards DCPC, it it’s done with a training provider who is also registered with JAUPT.
The actual answer to your question will depend on how the provider registered their ADR course with JAUPT, because there are options open to them.
Some ADR providers registered the whole 21-hours as a single lump with JAUPT, so that provider can only offer 21-hours on a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ basis.
If your company’s chosen provider registered their 21-hours as three separate ‘chunks’ of 7-hours (the more flexible option,) then you would simply tell the instructor on day #1 that you only need 14-hours. In that case, the other 7-hours aren’t lost and your company doesn’t need to pay for them, because you simply don’t need them.
If your company asks the provider the right questions, then it shouldn’t result in a tangle.
Thanks for that everyone.
I didn’t think that £448 for a full ADR course was bad including tanks and packages… this is being paid for
The DCPC module is an ‘extra’ as mentioned and the dirty ■■■■■■■ want an EXTRA £75 for 3 days… so what else do I learn from this, NOTHING… what a scam
I would have to meet the ‘extra’ cost so I will not be bothering with it.
Just been told my agency ‘put me through’ the dcpc gratis!!! But… it involves having 3 silly money saturdays off

If you hold both categories on your licence you can pick ANY qualifying course from EITHER type of relevent training or even the same one 5 times. It’s a farce but either I get it paid for by someone I’m working for or the taxman pays for it as a tax deductible expense.
It’s a DCPC so only 35 hours needed TOTAL.

Btdt. 3 sessions on pcv and 2 on lgv equals fresh drivers cpc card thank you very much, valid to 2019

Hi trubster,
Try comparing the “3 silly money saturdays off” with “£75 for 3 days” then have a think about where else you could get 21 DCPC hours for only £75 and not have to lose your Saturdays?
You asked “what else do I learn from this?” and that’s a fair question… The answer is that you learn nothing, but you don’t put any extra effort in either.
