Hi all,
Can you work after passing CPC but before you get your qualification card. Or do you have to have the card before driving commercially.

Once passed you can drive commercially with immediate effect and you are given a pink slip to verify your qualification. This is used as proof until your card arrives, usually within 2 weeks after your test.

Hey Smudge4262
Can you advise, ‘the pink slip’? - im doing a ‘7’ hour cpc course this Saturday, then an ADR course in Sept (which will equate to 28 hours cpc) - Hence 35 hrs - hey presto! Will I have to wait for the card and/or will I receive the slip? -
Thanks in advance!
I’m not entirely sure in that situation I’m afraid mate. For a CPC I only had to do a case studies test and then a mod 4 practical, and was then given the slip. Fairly new to all this myself so apologies for not being much use!

Any approved JAUPT training centre must provide you with a certificate at the end of the day stating that you have completed x amount of CPC hours. You just need to carry these with you whilst waiting for your CPC card.

That’s what I was told and believe to be the case. However, you may need to ‘educate’ any companies or individuals when you go for a driving assessment or interview.
Not everyone is as clued up on the rules
Once 35 hours of periodic training are completed you can drive whilst waiting for the card.
I would advise carrying your certificates but there isn’t actually a requirement to.
At the roadside DVSA can access the records and see the training was completed within the 20 working days DVSA quote for the card to arrive.

Thanks for this, I will look out for it on Sarurday & enquire… Thanks again very useful info.
Yes you can drive professionally as soon as your 35 hours Periodic Training is complete. There is a link to this on gov.uk somewhere. I’ll look now.
Waiting for your card
If you’ve done your periodic training and you’re waiting for your Driver CPC card to arrive:
* you can still drive professionally
* you won’t be fined for not having a Driver CPC card with you
Hope this helps.
