To be a dcpc trainer (I assume you mean that and not a operator CPC trainer?) all you need is a letter stating that you are competant from a current or former employer

Is that really all you need? No wonder there are so many complaints about the standard of training. The company I did mine with were JAUPT Approved and the guy was pretty good.
Why do standards seem to be going in the wrong direction these days?

The trainer with that letter would be a JAUPT approved trainer and must deliver a JAUPT approved course under the remit of a JAUPT approved training company

JAUPT do not check on the accuracy of a course but that course content will be checked if under another official body like ADR is by SQA

JAUPT do now check actual course content in detail as part of the approval process. The last course I had approved needed me to send in all powerpoints, handouts, course notes & timings, tutor notes etc.

They objected to some of the content as not relevant and I had to remove it and adjust the timings accordingly. it took about 4 weeks to get the course approved - it used to take about 10 days.

They have definitly tightened up on course content. problem is they seem to play a silly game of “We don’t like the content on page 4 you will have to change it”. “What don’t you like about it then?”. “Not telling you, you’ll just have to change it and resubmit it”. At this point they remind you that if the course isn’t approved in a 30 day period from initial submission they will return all course material and KEEP THE CHEQUE! They also take an average of 10 - 15 days to reply to emails meaning this 30 day dealine is a realistic issue and training centres need to get the course material right from day one.

Most course audits that take place now are all about the content and timings of the course being delivered plus the trainer and their abilities. Standards are on the up.
