CPC Module Four Questions

I have got my cpc test this week and I have a training day with my instructor.
However there are one or two questions I am not sure about. I was wondering if someone could confirm these answers for me.

Q) You are about to make a long journey in this vehicle. Show me what checks you would make to this vehicle’s fuel system and explain what precautions you should take to ensure it remains in a serviceable condition, especially in very cold weather conditions.

My answer:

Check you have enough fuel by checking guage
Check the fuel tank is secure to the vehicle
Check the cap is locked
Use fuel with additives in cold weather to prevent freezing

On the flair training questions it’s say check fuel fill level does that mean I should open the tank and look at it to check the level of fuel in there.

Q) On entering your vehicle for the first time, show me all of the practical and visual safety checks you would make before starting the engine, which I would like you to do.

My answer:

Do a cockpit drill
Check the handbrake is on in neutral
Check height indicator
Check horn
Check fuel guage

Do I need to start the engine?

Also the questions that say your tyre has caught fire or there is an electrical fire in the engine, you would say that you would cut off the fuel supply but I don’t know how to do that so do I tell him or do I have to show him?

For the fuel question we teach to make a visual check of the tanks fuel level in case the gauge is wrong. Mention if visual was not possible dip the tank with a length of wood or similar.

For the vehicle checks question check all gauges and warning lights before starting engine then again after starting it.

Finally the questions about fire. The answers actually say isolate the electrics not the fuel. Some vehicles have an isolator switch. If not mention you could disconnect a battery lead.

Good luck with test
