CPC Mod 2

So Theory and HP done and passed extreamly well…Cat C booked for Early Feb…

Now to do the CPC mod 2 on Tuesday… alot of what I have read and from advice from some I have spoken to at schools I was under the impression that if you passed your theory you will pass the case studies as it’s the same infor just asked in a different format. So I waited until this week to go through the case studies as a refresher and OMG… It’s not the same stuff. It’s far more in depth and the amount needed to know seems crazy.

I don’t struggle to study, I have a degree, and can usually get my head round things well but am finding this really hard to remember and get my head round and am in a total panic about passing this test… Which seems crazy considering all things I have had to study in recent years.

I’m using theory4all… Is it really as complicated as these test… I also find that they have many trick questions with answer that just don’t seem right… Maybe it’s just me?? Help

Hi Mistiek,
I’m with you on this one. I found this a real mind bending exercise.
I passed this today  This is one of those tests where you feel unsure if you’ve passed or failed until you are told.
My advice and what helped me, was reading the official DVSA guide to driving goods vehicles sections 2,3,4. I read these 3 times to get my head round what was required in these case studies. I also highlighted the salient points, which helped.
My advice based on today is study ADR, Drivers hours and operator licencing. There are no trick questions and what you read in the scenario’s is relevant to the answers. Common sense is the most important thing in this test and you’ll be surprised how quickly the test goes.
Best of luck and happy studying.

Thank you Thattintruck…

I know that common sense prevails but wow… One question I just answer said the timber company owner should park his vehicle at his home address. Common sense would tell me that he should park it in his yard where common sense would tell me it’s locked and insured?? It’s things like this I just don’t get… Anyways. :open_mouth:

I will continue to endeavour to get my head round it… The book is out now and I will try read all the sections you advise. Feel like I’m running out of time… And with kids this weekend, partner home (although he says he will down with me and help me) and 2 night shift to contend with… I don’t know how I will fit it all in… Will need that luck. :unamused:

Can I just offer one piece of advice on mod 2 - don’t panic!

It looks very complicated and the theory4all web site although very detailed, does seem to go a bit over the top. I was a nervous wreck before I did that, but actually it’s much more straightforward than it seems in the real test. Just read the questions carefully as you’ll often find the correct answer is hidden in the question.

As for the timber company owner, he should park at the yard generally which I believe would be part of the operators licence requirements.

Oh TrevHcs… This is just what I needed this evening… I’m operating on 4 hours sleep today after doing 2 night nursing shifts this weekend and I’m panicking about trying to go over everything one last time… I’m so tired I’m getting myself more mixed up than it being useful. So have relented and decided to put the study material down, have a hot bath a good meal and an early night… Ready for a 9am test tomorrow. If I pass great… If I fail… I’ll have to just rebook. I think I have goose over everything enough, I have answered all the case studies and passed them all now. What I don’t know now… I won’t.

Hi mistiek I’ve just passed all 3 of mine this morning and like you I was mega tired as I went straight to the test centre from a 12 hour night shift. Found all of it pretty straight forward at the actual tests but before hand I did have concerns over the CPC case studies but as has been said its not so bad in the actual test just make sure you read and reread questions / answers and apply the knowledge you have + common sense and I’m sure you’ll do fine! Good luck, let us know your result

The particular question you refer too on my scenario of the exact same question had the text containing the yard owner had had his yard broken into…so he should take the wagon home!!

Myself and friend also noticed questions kept changing context, answers were different when re testing ones self…

Minefield.

Sadly mines expired, dunno wether its best too use it again or by the books…

Well I passed!!! All the panic for nothing…

It was much simpler than I expected, I got 46 out of 50.

Thanks everyone for the replies and well wishes. CAT C in 3 weeks time now eek… then Mod 4 in March and hopefully the C+E at the same time…
