Hi all.
As some of you may remeber, I took and passed my Cat C test back in early 2008. Not long after that, my wife had an illness, which put her out of work. I deceded to stay where I was as it was a regular wage. Now I am looking into driving again, but I have not done any CPC training. Will I need to do some before I get a job, or is there a deadline (for example 2014) where all training needs to be done?

You just need to complete 35 hours of periodic dcpc training before 09/09/2014 if you want to drive LGVs commercially after that date

Are you the new owner of a crystal ball ROG?
I wonder if the OP needs to do Initial CPC or whether they had C1 prior to 1997 and therefore exempt from Initial CPC (which would then make your statement correct)

Because he has a LGV category before 09/09/2009
I took my car test in 2006, and my Cat C in 2008. Does the 2014 ruling still apply, or do I need to do an initial CPC before getting a job driving (I will make sure I do my 35 hours before 2014, even if I have to do it privately)

Sean is now confusing things instead of Rog
You only need the periodic so 35 hours before 2014
But be careful as not many driving jobs out there

NO initial required - the DSA system would not allow you to do so because you are already in the LGV periodic dcpc system
You are in the dcpc periodic system because you had a LGV category (any will do) on your licence on 09/09/2009 which gives you aquired/grandfather rights
Once again, thank you so much for clearing this up ROG. I know there is not many jobs out there at the moment, but at least I now know I can at least I can apply with no worries of needing do do any CPC stuff first.
