CPC Help (acquired rights)

I would be grateful for any help, I Have driven 7.5t for yrs, passed my car test in the 80’s, passed LGV C in Dec12, do I have acquired rights for all LGV or just C1, ie do I need to take module 2 and 4?. If i’m OK with the acquired rights then do I need to do 35hrs CPC yet or by Sept 2014 to drive C. I’m having trouble with how the requirements are worded.

Hi , as far as I am aware, if you passed your car test before 1997 you won’t need to take mod 2 & 4, you will need to take your 35 hours of dcpc which is due in force in Sept 2014 to drive professionally, & welcome

You have dcpc LGV aquired rights

35 hours of periodic dcpc needed by 09/09/2014 if you want to continue driving LGVs commercially after that date

Those in the LGV periodic system do not need to and cannot take the initial LGV dcpc - the system will not allow it

The dcpc system is not for individual categories such as C1, C or D1 etc but relates to all such as LGV or PCV

When you complete the 35 hours at any time before 09/09/2014 you will receive a DQC (driver cpc card) expiry dated 09/09/2019

Periodic dcpc hours can only be counted if within 5 years of a DQC expiry date - your current ‘ghost’ DQC expiry date is 09/09/2014

Thank you both very much, I have had a few problems, wanted to be super sure.

I did my mod 2 and 4 on a 4 ton merc sprinter. My CPC card covers everything up to CE. PCV needs a separate test. Your acquired rights cover all LGV categories.

Maybe make ROG’s original post a sticky?
