CPC Credits

Could you clarify a situation for me, If a driver has only completed three modules ( 21 Hours) on September 10th 2014 will he need two more modules (14 hours) to become legal, or does he lose these credits and have to start a fresh 35 hours training.
We are running courses at present to make sure that our drivers are compliant, however it is a question that is becoming asked more frequently and I would like to be sure to give the right answer.

The driver will have 5 years from the date of the first curse he took.

Obviously after September he won’t be able to drive commercially until he’s completed the 35 hours, but he won’t lose his credit for the courses he’s done.

Are you sure

Example - for those with acquired/grandfather dcpc rights
7 hours done on 09/05/2010 = valid until 08/05/2015
7 hours done on 11/12/2011 = valid until 10/12/2016
7 hours done on 08/07/2013 = valid until 07/07/2018
After 09/09/2014 the drive cannot drive LGVs commercially
7 hours done on 11/10/2014 = valid until 10/10/2019
7 hours done on 12/12/2014 - at this point all the others are still valid so the 35 hours are complete and a DQC is issued with an expiry date of 11/12/2019

That driver now has until 11/12/2019 to get the next set of 35 hours if they wish to continue driving commercially after that date

If the driver did all that next set of 35 in the month of January 2015 then a DQC would be issued with an expiry date of 11/12/2024 but no more hours towards the next set of 35 would count until after 11/12/2019

deliberate typo there Mr Tachograph? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

er are you really sure rog as my card says
that’s when I finished all of my 35 hrs

That is spot on - see the last paragraph in my post above

The validity of each 7 hours towards a set of 35 lasts for 5 years but once a set of 35 has been reached then all those 7 hour courses are spent because they have served their purpose
