CPC Cancellation terms

Just after a bit of comment.

We run cpc courses (the 7 hour sessions) on a regular basis and we’re frequently fully booked and refusing further bookings. (There is a fixed limit of 20 persons on our courses). But we’ve had a spate of folks saying they’ll pay on the day and then not turning up. That doesn’t really surprise me though it’s frustrating.

The bigger problem is when someone books and pays and then doesn’t turn up. Sometimes there’s a phone call the day before, sometimes a bit more notice and sometimes they just don’t show.

At what point do forum members think we should transfer a pre-paid booking to another date? In other words, how much notice should we reasonably expect?

As for the ones who haven’t paid, that’s just us being daft and then paying the price!

No ambition to screw anyone, but also need to run close to capacity on a regular basis.

Your thoughts?

I’d say two working days. That seems fair to both parties - occasionally the customer will have matters taken out of his/her hands, and not be able to turn up (boss suddenly wants them to work or something). But that also gives you two working days to fill the space.

EDIT: by working days, I mean office hours, Mon to Fri

If you want my humble opinion I would say 5 working days would be fair to both parties.

Do you have a standby list? I would say 1 day (no refund) up to 3 days (the chance to rebook or 75% refund if you fill the space) 5 days (full refund)

If I booked a course and did not turn up because I could not be bothered I would not expect anything but if the reason was a medical one for instance then I might expect the company to be sympathetic and assist where reasonably possible without them losing out financially

Easy one Pete. Use the same cancellation terms as the DSA for their tests. 3 clear working days. Inform candidates in the joining instructions and everyone knows the rules.

Same thing occurred to me today as I drove past the test center. I guess it’s easier to publish a single policy to cover all courses then, and not have different rules for different courses.
