Cover letter help

hi guys
im currently in the process of applying to one of the large catering suppliers,
having been a chef for almost 20 years and using them almost exclusively i feel a know a fair bit about there business and im pretty sure they have been known give new drivers a chance from time to time
this is job i really want and i bug their drivers about openings everytime i get a delivery :sunglasses:

the trouble is when i fill in the application its all about me being a chef,
so what i need is a really good cover letter to make them at least think about interviewing me,after that im pretty sure i can sell myself to them.

any good cover letter tips??

cheers

I would say the main things you need to concentrate on are the skills you already have for example customer service skills, used to working under pressure to tight deadlines, working as part of a team, hardworking and above all willing and wanting to learn. You’ll probably find you already have most of the skills required, except the driving experience!

Good luck

Hey,

When I first read this I joked in my head about baking a cake. Then it didn’t seem so silly. Sometimes it’s just about getting yourself noticed, standing out from all the rest and getting that first initial contact/response from the company; then you can really sell yourself and put across your enthusiasm. Pestering a driver won’t do a thing but ■■■■ him off.

Do bake a load of cup cakes for the transport office and take them and your CV into the Transport Office. Or even get your Letter of application printed on the cake.

Maybe it’s jut because its 0330 and I book on in an hour after, but as someone who has been responsible for hiring and firing, I would see that as someone with a fresh and innovative outlook and would have them in for an interview immediately.

Yeah it sounds a bit wacky and crazy I know, depends on what your personality is like too I suppose. But you just need them to remember you!

Good luck.

Michelin chef to Michelin tyres… PMSL!!!

What he said. I was a journalist/editor and got a driving job by using those sorts of phrases. They said I’d showed initiative and it helped me stand out. Don’t worry about what you aren’t, focus on what you are
