Scenic route or boring route ?
Birmingham side of Cov or Daventry side of Cov ?
Birmingham side would be Motorway and easiest way to me would be M42,M5 and then up Birdlip hill on the A whatdoyoucallit.
Daventry side you could cross country .
The A361 will take you straight to swindon and all cross country . Depends how you want to do it , slow and easy cross country or fast and furious on the motorway.
A361 will also drop you onto the m40 and then 40 to the A34 and pick up swindon signs round oxford way.
Down the old fosse, A429.
Then pick up the 419 down into sunny swindon 
Or second option would be, as was said above, M40, A34 then across the A420 (plenty of cameras along here).
Forget the M5 birdlip route, its a hell of a way round to get from cov - swin
if its the b and q run quickest is m40,a34,a420.

Run both those routes from Burton and there is nothing in it .

and vis a versa i know it can be done but the sinage says not

the fosse is a rough old road,especially in an artic…done it quite a few times from rugby to swindon,but watch the fillings…
We go 34/420 route too , fully frieghted weve had quite a few get into bother on the fosse , especially when it’s wet .Anybody guess where■■?

Yes - I’ve pulled 30 tonnes of concrete through Fossbridge in the wet - and only just made it up the hill .
