Coventry roadworks

Hi guys,

I’ve got a night shift starting tonight, which involves driving from west London to a hub depot in that big business park at Coventry airport, the only access to which is through the roundabout they are digging up (Tollbar End I think it’s called). I start the shift at 7pm so it’s likely that I’ll arrive around 10. Is it still likely to be congested by then? Is it better to approach from the west on the A45 (i.e. take the M40 & A46) or the east (from the M1)?

I came from the west this morning a46 from Stratford on way to lovely Leicester over the island even tho the islands a mess still plenty of room and at 8am was reasonably empty.wouldnt have thought traffic be a prob at 10pm be more lane width but im sure someone who lives closer can help more.

I’d use M1 and M45/A45. Should be quiet around tollbar when you arrive.

Not a problem at that time of night.

I’ve come through there on night and had no issues ,come up m40,a46, m69 ,mate says it’s been shut now and then,but diversion easy

Thanks everyone, the job turned out not to be going to Coventry but to Northampton. Might be doing Coventry tonight though. It’s going to be wait-and-see every night.

I live within a few miles of the roundabout, you would be very unlucky to get any major issues after 20.00-21.00.

In the day it’s a different story, some days it’s fine, another day it can be queuing from TGI’s on the Eastern Bypass to TollBar (two miles) If you had the misfortune to come out of the business park you mention during the evening rush hour it could take up to an hour I’m told.

The underpass is meant to be finished by Autumn… 2016
