Has anyone seen the van sitting above the a1m around the durham area(jct 59-63) and does anyone know which agency/offences its for.
Its very distinctive it has a small white camera sitting in front on a tripod and in bold letters on the van it reads,“COURT ON US”.
Passed it going north last week and have been racking my brains as to who it could be since.
It was suggested it might be for the time trial but there is no time trial north bound.
Angers me that they sneak about trying to catch folk out.
It will be ANPR camera it might be the DVLA they sometimes use a small citroen berlingo van. I used to work for them on the ncp contract we had them on the roofs of a transit van.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition, or something like that.
same on m6 tween carlise n penrith my guess dvla

Yes ANPR the DVLA one only can tell if you have tax.
I worked with the police on the M4 they can tell if you have TAX,INSURANCE,MOT, and if the car is registered. all that by one little camera.
But if you have polish plates your ok
these ones sit on m/way bridges in ■■■■■■■■

can only tell you if you have tax■■?
Just for info the police get all info from DVLA for insurance etc… quicker then going through a PNC … its just the fact that insurance and driving offences do not come under the durastiction of
DVLA hence why they dont use it for them purposes. also why would the NCP be on a motorway ?

WOW you think i’am a liar
The police dont have the power to take your car if you have no TAX we did!
Yes the police have there own ANPR they are on tri-pods 4 mostly to get every lane. They have a controller that sits in the van, when he gets a hit he radios to the cars that are sitting in position to stop you.
Then they bring the cars to the next exit maybe services or a layby . Thats where we came in, if the car had no insurance the police have priority, they would impound the vehicle. If no tax we would clamp it or take.
I no that DVLA is a licence agency and not insurance ok.
also why would the NCP be on a motorway ?
Thought they sold tickets to go on the m25 these days…
