Coupling

try split coupling at Bookers rdc Haydock and see how long youre allowed to stay on site !! but they allow you to shunt couple I hate the place

3 pages for this :open_mouth: Split coupling is safe and legal if done correctly! Bloody el, coupling up is almost the first part of the test :unamused:

If it’s too close move the fifth wheel (I know some are fixed) I move mine all the time.

One of the jobs I do regularly, I used to have to split-couple all the time because the access flap behind the cab was jammed (they’ve fixed it now, though).

Nothing wrong with split coupling as long as you think about what you are doing and take care,
I do it all the time at one firm i’m contracted to cos their drivers leave the suzies like a birds nest & covered in grease,
only chance of untangling & connecting up without getting covered in crap is to leave yourself 4 or 5 feet to work in

Toddy2:
leave the suzies like a birds nest & covered in grease,

:imp: That is a real pet hate of mine. No one else drives my truck and the lines are spotless. However, when mines in for service etc I use the spare :unamused: first 20 minutes is sorting out the lines  I will not drive a truck that has lines twisted and stretched!

I’ll not change them but I like them in military order and running/hanging free

Its also dangerous to leave um tangled,if they kink when you turn theres hell on

they can be a pain in this day and age,i prefer when I started out,the old tap ones were being phased out [I think that’s what they called them]much easier to connect, connect and turn on,much better
