Could this bus fit through here?

what do you think folks ,could this bus have fitted past the parked Argos lorry ? Was it worth a 15 min wait ,my mrs offered to drive the bus through for the driver which really boiled his ■■■■ .

Could drive a bus through there.

ohh, wait…

I would say it would easily fit through there.

There’s sometimes a bloke leaves his Daf 95 unit about there and I can pass in my Erf without a thought .

Loadsa room!!! :unamused: :unamused:

I need 15 minutes to think

Easily. There’s some proper special needs bus drivers aren’t there.

Great for a break

Bus driver clearly needed to consider his next stop (which might have been only a short distance further on) and how he would arrange to leave the rear O/S corner of his bus protruding into the traffic if he was not able to get his approach line correct.

I can pass now; )

You can’t be too careful in the bustling metropolis of Matlock.

Yes very annoying leaving the rear sticking out like they do ,is something they’re trained to do ? Or just because they can .

Matlock or Deadlock, the driver of the bus is a ■■■ !!

That’s not Matlock.
It’s The Hood. Downtown Middleton. A little like Compton, only tougher.

As an ex bus driver yes, you would get a decker through there but as best practice If your unsure don’t take a chance.

They are trained/told to get as close to the kerb sas possible but councils raised all the bus stop kerbs for easier access and the low floor buses will hit the new raised kerbs where as at one time the front of the bus would sweep over the kerb to allow the bus to pull in parrellel to the stop.

That’s an Optare Solo, and yes it’d fit through there, I’ve driven them through narrower gaps

But, I can’t tell from the picture which version it is, they come in 7m, 9m and 10m, and they have a 2.5m overhang at the rear on a single rear axle, so the arse end of it does tend to swing out, particuarly if you need to turn sharply. It’s possible he’d of had to turn back into the left sharply and might have been concerned about the tail-swing. It’s equally possible he’d just decided he wanted to make a point of “nice place to park, you ■■■■■

I do often find it’s that size/type of bus that seem to have the worst drivers. It seems like the bus world equivalent of 7.5 tonner driven on a car licence.

If his road position was correct there should be no issues with rear swing.
You used to have class 1 Psv (double Decker crash box ) class 1a double Decker auto and semi auto, then class 2 single Decker and class 3 (mini/midi bus 16 seats if I remember)
I am going back a bit when I passed mine in 85, same week as my hgv

I would have probably gone for it, but then I did skirt close to the edge on some things.

If the driver has had the threat hanging over him for a sacking for damaging any more buses the advice he would have been told is to wait until a space is clear than trying it and getting stuck.

Some bus management people don’t seem to live in the real world sometimes…
