That just re-iterates exactly what I have said. The aim was to encourage new young drivers and no research or study was ever carried out to establish if there was any sort of genuine need for further training for existing drivers or that road safety was adversely affected by the absence of it.
If you also find the EU’s own review on the implementation you will see the concern that it may actually be discouraging new young drivers.

It could never have been stopped because in the face of it, it’s not a bad idea. A campaign to stop truck drivers being taught how to control their death machines was never going to get popular support so was always doomed to fail.
Yes, but they’ll soon change their tune on the death machines when the supermarket shelves are empty and the stuff that is on them is more expensive.

Please tell me what this financial agenda is? I keep hearing the same old crap about it being allegedly done to get rid of older drivers but that makes no sense as they’re not excluded from doing it. It certainly isn’t to lower pay in the industry because that’s gone up as a result of the DCPC. So what is this financial agenda?
Firstly where did I ever say it was to do with getting rid of older drivers?
You said yourself it cost you £300, maybe you were willing to fork out but most of us were less willing to pay to go on a course to learn how to do a job we have done for x no. of years.
You keep banging on about everybody in the job being ignorant of all things transport, well this may be difficult for you personally to grasp but you have not got the monopoly on comprehension and knowledge of drivers hours regs etc .
You have this generalization of opinion that everybody that has done the job for more than 5 mins is totally ignorant of drivers hours rules, admittedly there are a few that are as thick as, and they are the ones that tend to stand out more, but certainly not all older drivers, as you seem to think, and continually tell us at every opportunity, in fact the more knowledgeable are in the majority.
The only ones that have benefited from this crap are those that have made a new career out of it and a very lucrative one at that when you consider the rates that are being charged to the amount of drivers that have undertook it, and the revenue raised by this is a bonus to the government.
As for pay going up, not in all cases, but where it is prevalent it’s a consequence of a lot of drivers saying ■■■■ it, rather than an intention or a result of the dcpc’s concept or existence.

Don’t suppose I will get an answer as you rarely do when the concencus of opinion is contrary to yours.
If you had your own business and needed a driver to do trips abroad.
You had 2 possible candidates.
A guy that had done it all, tilts, fridges, tauts, rope & sheet etc for the last 25 30 years (you know the type Conor, those that are gobshytes in your dcpc sessions) who admitted that he was not up to Conor standard on the intricacies of driver hours and wtd regs, but knew the basic regs and had managed to cope without any offences.
The second guy, a young minimally experienced driver, who had been sold on the dcpc idea, and embraced it, to the point of boring the arses off anybody that would listen to it’s benefits (you know…much like yourself) and claimed he could quote wtd/driver’s hours parrot fashion, but had no idea how to strip out a tilt.
Who would you take on, I would imagine after continually telling us that all older experienced drivers talked out of their arses I would expect it to be the opposite one to who I would take on.
Sadly we are just a bunch of sad little computer pricks with nothing better to do with our lifes then troll the net and talk about it but not actully doing it
this is why we have such a low status among society and why we are so week it makes it that easy for the gastapo at dutcher haulage ltd (DHL) to treat us like prisoners of war
