Could someone help me with keeping track of drivers hours

Ilxsmithy123:
I can’t use hh:mm which I’m trying to use to calculate total time driving, other work etc per week I’m using excel on my iPhone

If you’re trying to calculate in excel be aware that hh:mm will not go over 23:59:59, instead of formatting hh:mm use a custom format :mm.
:mm format will calculate over 24 hours

Remember you need to use the brackets for it to work

Finish time

You don’t, you need to format the cell itself using custom format

How can there be any profit when all you’ve done is spend £2?

I don’t know about iPhone but there doesn’t appear to be any way to add custom formats on Excel for Android, you’ll probably need to format the relevant cells on a computer and copy the spreadsheet over to your phone.

edit: I’ve just tried using a custom cell format on the computer and when the spreadsheet is opened on an Android phone the custom format works perfectly on the phone, so if you can format the cells on a computer then copy the spreadsheet over to your phone it should work OK.

I can only assume it would also work on an iPhone.

You can’t do custom formats on iPhone ( or any phone for that matter) if using the Microsoft Apps.

They only have preformatted for each category, you can’t do customs

This has to be done on the full desktop version though as pointed out, then opening the file on the phone will retain all formatting created on the desktop

Knock up a spreadsheet and keep it on your phone. Store it via a cloud so it can be accessed all times. On mine I basically have columns for…

Day/Date, Start time, Finish time, Paid hours, Driving time, other work, WTD hours (driving plus other work) Daily Rest, Daily Rest in a 24hr period (this can be different to above), Vehicle reg, start/end miles, fuel plus area I’m operating in or any other comments.

Then along the bottom I total things weekly. I’ve also got it set so if I reduce rest or increase driving it shades a cell Orange to show I’ve used up something.

Could you show me yours please

Erm :open_mouth:

Yeah it’s here mate albeit a bit zoomed out. Literally I just fill it in at the end of each day and depending on how modern the truck is will.depend if a printout is needed. I’ve got all info on my dash for example on my new unit so just take details from there, in my older one it was more basic so I did need a printout.

Hello by any chance you could help me with making this excel document as I can’t seem to get adding up duration times over 24 hours when it’s more than 24hours it goes back to 0hours thanks

Hi sorry for delay but I see others have answered anyway so all good.

Take a print out at the end of every shift and write it down. It’s not rocket science.

So if this new driver makes a mistake, how will a print out at the EOS show him during said shift.

Does this help?
