I am currently waiting for my medical and am studying for my theory and hazzard perception tests. Before this I was searching the internet for ways to help finance my training and came across www.hgvtraining.co.uk
whilst browsing their site I noticed that they offered finance for hgv training. Brilliant. So i filled in the reply form and waited for the call.
That was a week ago and I have since found this wonderful forum and was educated quickly regarding the practices of brokers and their salesmen. I also took advice from here to find local training centers and go visit them and find out whats involved.
So I recieved a call today from someone at hgvtraining.co.uk and thought I would listen to what he had to say. As predicted he said everything I wanted to here and then I told him I had 2 reservations,
1 - he worked for a broker and
2 - I would not be placed with my chosen training company
I think I flustered him a bit because he started waffling saying if I went on holiday I would go through a broker like Thomas Cook and its basically the same thing here with them. I replied that the holiday industry is regulated and you are not.
He then started saying that they take care of everything for me and I said No You Dont. He asked what I was talking about because they are a national training and recruitment company and they sort everything. No I said basically you would offer me finance for a training course at a inflated price and then pass me off to any training company you thought fit, regardless of wether it was what i asked for. The training company does all the work, organising medical, theory training through to the actual hgv test. He started to argue but by this time I had heard enough and hung up.
I apologise for waffling on but I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum because without the knowlege I gained here I could be seriously out of pocket with nothing to show for it.
by the way I am still going for my licence (eventually want c+e) its jusst going to take a while longer to get it
