I’ve been looking around trainers in the south east and have found they vary from about £1200 - £1350. Is there any better than this, without compromising quality of training? I’ve heard people say you can get it done for £1000 or less if you’re lucky but I’ve not been able to find anywhere that does training + test for £1000.
Even if it’s up north it might we worth getting a cheap b+b if the cost justifies it.
ROG asks a valid question. How many training days is that? Most quote for 5 although you may not need that many. I started my class 2 training today. Following an assessment drive 3 weeks ago it transpired 3 days would be fine for me so even with CPC costs added in it only cost me £970. And that’s with a decent firm I’ve seen recommended on here. Have a shop around, try and get assessment drives and go from there. Where abouts in the South East are you? The school Im with are Essex based.
To buy training on price alone is not a good strategy. There is a vast spectrum in the quality of the offerings out there and, logically, the cheap ones are possibly not offering the best deal.
I’m forever carrying out corrective training to sort out the mess that other “trainers” leave behind. But they’re cheap.
Do it cheap and do it quick but just enough to pass a test - that is the problem which blights our current system and why it often turns out drivers with a licence but not enough training to keep them safe
That is relevant for the car and any other driving test
Its only afterwards when the driver realises that more time spent training or more money on quality training might have been a better idea but by then it can often be too late
Do it cheap and do it quick but just enough to pass a test
But sadly the test isn’t passed and the trainee is left hundreds of pounds poorer and is now faced with paying for effective training. So the end result is massive time delays, shattered self confidence and a hefty overall cost.
And still people are always looking for the cheapest. Good luck.
Roadtrain are a good bet near lakeside, as are Newcroft in purfleet. I have used the latter for class 1 and former for class 2. Both were attentive and high quality.
Roadtrain are based at the actual test Center which is useful, but Newcroft are cheaper and also have reversing area.
This is always a difficult problem as comparing like for like is not easy due to the multitude of different offerings available and even if price comparison is possible quality comparison is not.
Having assessments is the best option but not foolproof as some students see them as an almost guaranteed promise of passing the test.
In my opinion if the trainer actually sees the candidate drive and uses his experience to state how much training is required to pass the test then he should carry some of the responsibility if the candidate fails ie perhaps some additional training free.
Passing the test is the MOST important thing to every trainee and I believe it’s how trainers judge themselves. Our training is fully structured around getting results ie extensive use of test routes, knowledge of examiner requirements etc.
It is possible to get the licence for around £1000 but not for everyone. We have had people pass in 3 days and others fail after 8 days training.
Think my C+E cost around 600-700 plus vat so was well under the 1k around 870? Maybe less canny mind…
its only cheaper if u do it in less days I had 2 ×4 hour lessons wed and thurs with test on friday.
