Buzzer, I’ve just re-read the Turners missive in case I had missed something this morning when it came through. The site restrictions only apply to drivers coming in directly from outside the British Isles or mainland Europe. Either delivering to Newmarket or collecting from Newmarket. This sort of restriction is being applied at various sites where I load tankers and applies to my drivers who never go across the water.… unless you count the tanker that went to Anglesey a couple of weeks ago.
I’m beginning to think that we’re living in surreal times. One thing I am sure of is that our leaders are not telling us the whole story with this virus.
Not wishing to create a spat on line GF but the headline post on the prof section from Rikki makes quite clear that this action is illegal.
Personally if faced with this and direct refusal from the management of the relevant site It would be " If you want it come and get it, it’s going back goodbye".

Hi all,we are struggling at Clarke transport we got 8 drivers off in Bridgend depot as well as the others we got freight backing up in our warehouse I was night out in Falmouth Wednesday, drove back empty Thursday got back to yard run back out on locals due to driver drivers off ,all coke cola are closing their rdc down for the time being ,we do work for them ,sika welwyn garden city cutting back along with most of our suppliers,if this country goes on lockdown the haulage industry will suffer big time ,hi dan is that artic your new toy mate ,seen seths ridgid on the a30 yesterday past Exeter
Just a question why have you got eight drivers off ? have they contracted the virus or are they just shirking no offence meant, Buzzer
^^^^^^
Most sites we collect from have imposed identical restrictions… illegal or otherwise.
On another matter I went to the massive ASDA next to my depot at 06.30 this morning for some milk and sugar for the brew room (open to all employees). Got some milk but no sugar to be seen. The place was absolutely rammed with shoppers at that time of the day. Plenty of fresh meat and veg but no sliced bread to be seen and many other empty shelves. It’s usually a 24 hours opening store, but is closing at 10.00 pm to 06.00 am for re-stocking.
Our load volumes for RDC deliveries today are still massive, but looking at load totals we delivered overnight we did very well.

We are moving back to the UK from the Isle of Man on the 26th. Our removal company cannot send the wagon over with a Manx driver because when he returns from the UK he would have to self isolate for 14 days. The wagon will go on ferry unaccompanied and a UK driver will collect it from Heysham and deliver.
Are you coming back to your roots Chris ?

We are moving to Thirsk Dan.Couldn’t find owt in Peak District except flats which we didn’t want.So North Yorks it is pal.
I heard that your first choice was Chorley Chris but the Mayor but the blockers on it!
Missed your way there Chris , bungalow next door to me is up for rent at the mo , and the bus stop is across the road when you get a bus pass . Very quiet on the virus thing but the air could be a bit too rarefied up here .
COROVID19 has closed UK export markets and caused a P0ll0ck price collapse on Newlyn fish market.
On Monday at the start of this week, P0ll0ck made £4.50 a kilo - by yesterday morning the average price was 41p
Doesn’t even cover the boat’s fuel bill.
Had to find a way of spelling Pollock that didn’t trigger the filter:
My missus has to go in a hospice, she is not ill or anything, she has been redeployed by the NHS while they replace her with a locum on double her salary.
If it wasn’t so serious you could laugh.
I think it only really hit me this morning when I realised I am one of the vulnerable they are talking about.

To help in social distancing I am going to the pub earlier with similar elderly and at-risk customers
Walking home through Penzance yesterday afternoon I was uplifted by one of our Local Musicians entertaining the few people still around - Made me Proud to be in Cornwall

Clearly you are one of those people who ignore government advice especially as you are one in the danger category, the advice was not to go to places where gatherings are ie pubs, clubs and the like but you know different hope you don’t need medical help in the near future.

Interesting scenario… a company owned by Turners refusing to deliver to Turners’ main depot. Seriously though, there has been some relaxation of the lockdown at Newmarket. Drivers do have access to toilets.

Even our Tory MPs are trying to stop escapees from England coming to Cornwall to escape the virus
We only have one hospital & that is always full - so please stay away until things are fixed & we can welcome you back
We thank the likes of Robroy / RR & Conway Bailey for keeping the shelves stocked

Now your sounding like Trump only thinking of yourself, the Tories don’t want anyone going to Cornwall for fear of catching your virus which ignores sound advice but your stumped with going to the pub now at least.
Well I reckon that similar to the “sea change” that occurred at the Millennium when Pubs and clubs tried to have a “beefer” by charging entry and it backfired spectacularly and since then most of the population have chosen to have New Years get togethers at home with Family and friends , a trend that has continued. Well I obviously cannot predict how this catastrophe will unfold but I believe I can say that there will definitely be a major shift within the populace going forward as I cannot see that there will be a 100% revival of all Pubs, Restaurants and Clubs etc in their hitherto form ! There is no way that HM Gov can finance the UK indefinitely, short term maybe, but not indefinitely for as long as this virus goes unchecked so the whole Industrial and leisure industries will emerge very differently to the state they entered the outbreak of this catastrophe. Well that’s my take on the current situation and I sincerely hope I am well wide of the mark ! Seriously concerned Bewick !

Hiya GF,
Having been out of the industry for 25 years I am not surprised in the slightest that stupidity such as banning Drivers from basic facilities has irrupted ! I know the simplest form of reaction wold be for a driver to crap in the waiting room !! Bit extreme I know but I believe it would be most effective and would bring the stupidity to an abrupt and proper conclusion ! Plus excluding Drivers from RDC canteens whoever decided this one should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. This is a time when everyone should pull together and not throw up stupid and agonistic rules such as that which is described ! Rant over Cheers Bewick.

Sad situation indeed but the social media and news broadcasts make the panic situation far worse than it need be Dennis, my boys are pulled out the place with work so we are not suffering like some but strange now that there is no news on the flooding issues just past or the Brexit deal negotiations only that Barny’s caught Covid19 hope his recovery is long and painful then he may realise what he and his gang put us through over Brexit, Buzzer.

As for Barny catching Covid 19 well those Frogs and Belgies eat Horse flesh don’t they so they are not the same stuff we are made of eh! I only hope Boris dosen’t back peddle on the date we are officially due to leave the EU on 31/12/21 ! Cheers Dennis.
