…Consequences, redundancies and wage cuts.
I heard this morning, straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak, that one of the largest commercial vehicle dealerships in the UK is asking all employees from senior management to workshops mechanics to take a wages cut. The company, (not British owned) has dealerships ranging from the south of England to the central belt of Scotland and has main dealerships for more than one make of truck. It is also making redundancies.
Driving agencies we use have also agreed to cut their rates, although agency drivers probably won’t admit to it when they’re boasting to employed drivers what their hourly rates supposedly are.
Is the the reality now, wage cuts and redundancies?

Looking at the global trade system and the great disparity of costs and wages in countries (including within Europe itself-for example the minimum full-time wage in Portugal is 600 Euros a month) I have been saying for several years that the only way that the “better off” European countries will survive in the future is if we work longer hours and accept that we will earn less. And that was pre-Brexit and Covid.

So all DC has to do is says that word SORRY and all the media go back in there boxes and we carry on as normal, its a bit like a spot when you are a juvenile it causes some embarrassment short term but it eventually it goes away, simples Buzzer
Footnote. The Conservatives did not just sneak in to power at the last general election with a narrow margin but then IMHO there are far too many politicians and most could not lay straight in bed so who ever we have in power we are stuffed.
Buzzer , the media have tried every trick in the book to stop Boris being leader of the Tories and leader of the country. Are you surprised that DC is now in the firing line. If everyone who had broken rules in lockdown resigned there would be a bigger crisis here. We have experts all over the place criticising everything the government do but nobody seems to have any worthwhile answers. As for our WW11 debt didn’t we write off Germanys but carried on paying the US.
We paid off the UK WW11 debt burden to America in December 2006 “ramone”,I have a feeling this Covid virus will cost the UK tax payer as much if not more.

The agency rates around my area have been dropping for a while now Graham , they advertise £12 per hour which is ok in Bradford( probably crap everywhere else) then they put in small print PAYE rates also available ,too many cowboy agencies. There`s going to be a lot of firms going under but there will be a lot taking advantage.
A very large logistics company announced the week after their year end (March) statement to the Stock Exchange that all managers would not be getting a pay rise this year and any manager earning more than £40,000 would have a 10% pay cut.
That was before the full consequences of this virus were known and many of these managers were working flat for retail contracts.
The people of this country have no sense at all gathering today in Trafalgar Square demonstrating about the death of one George Floyd in the USA not this country, they are certainly not two meters apart and beggars belief that they congregated in such a manor. The police officer who apparently knelt on George Floyd’s neck so depleting him of air subsequently killing him has been charged with murder plus other officers at the scene have been severely reprimanded. It is for America to deal with this situation and that’s where it should stay Buzzer.

Now you raise this perhaps you would like to think of the many who have died in police custody here in the UK. It really is too poltical to go into here but many have died in police custody over the last years when the deaths were stated as “restraint related”. I am afraid similar killings to the US one in the news now are not unknown here. I think the police often think they can act with impunity. And the Home Office records seem to bear that out.

I think the police in this country operate with too much restraint their job is impossible since the Blair Prescott era

Certainly the police do not operate with impunity, that is not what I said. I refer to their actions towards some in custody. I suggest you find interest in the Home Office Research Report Number 95 of 0ctober 2017. But that´s enough said.

If there is a second wave maybe it is because the Gov are rushing to remove restrictions?
They are ■■■■■■■ about getting their own “Track and Trace” phone app up and running when other types are available. They cant get the people for T&T trained correctly. The R number is still too high to allow relaxations. They were too late with lock down and allowed major sporting events to continue too long, they were shaking hands and behaving irresponsibly with their own lives and the publics
lives. We now have pubic health officials, including members of SAGE saying it`s too soon.
.
■■■■■■■■ and Johnson?
Many questions still unanswered here, both about ■■■■■■■■ movements, and Johnson`s support of him.
(Some here if you are interested theguardian.com/politics/20 … is-johnson)
But it is a question both of attitude from both ■■■■■■■■ and the Gov and its advice as a whole. "One rule for them, a different rule for us" stinks. Right or wrong some people will be more likely to flout rules if they see others, especially those in authority do so. ■■■■■■■■ did clearly break the rules: He left work to go home to his wife who had COVID symptoms, and then returned to work. Rules broken. Period. He then moved around when he suspected that he himself had COVID. . Looks like he broke other rules too during the Durham trip, but we have Johnson defending him to the hilt. And Johnson
s defense of him is alienating the public and so risking their co-operation in any health rules.
.
It isn`t in any way right that ■■■■■■■■ can be used as a perverse reason for some to be badly behaved, but getting rid of even a bad reason is surely a good thing?

And if you are interested at all in how the testing figures are being “spun” try this for a listen.
bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08f761q
All good stuff. Test data about 17min 30.
When this is finally over we shall see Bozogate, we will see during the course of the investigations that this government will have tried to block certain revelations under the 30 year rule, we shall see documents released under court order which have had sections redacted, but none of this will stop the prosecution of Johnson and certain members of the Cabinet for misconduct in a public office - which carries a sentence of life imprisonment.
The prosecution will not revolve around ■■■■■■■■■ but around the deliberate cover-up and far more critically around the cynical decision to distract attention from the continuing scandal by the premature announcement about easing the lockdown, when it was abundantly clear that the measures required - including: reliable data for the R number, contact and trace, rapid results of testing for the necessary number of people for the system to work and a true understanding of the effect of such easing in other countries - were not in place. Further evidence will surround the deliberate manipulation of figures relating deaths, to PPE and to how the numbers of tests announced differed significantly from the numbers of people tested.
It will be the deceit which sinks them not just what was done. Don’t think it can’t happen apologists, it only takes crowdfunding to raise the funds for judicial review into whether there is a case to answer.
Not just ■■■■■■■■ at fault of flaunting the rules but not much heard about the other offenders eh, was it really about Brexit, Buzzer
Maybe ■■■■■■■■ should have photographed all those reporters camped outside his house all pushing forward to ask a question and film him. Will they all be resigning , if ■■■■■■■■ resigned would Covid19 disappear … no … but all the busy bodies would be able to celebrate that they had achieved something but it would be short lived because those same people would be in London with Corbyns brother demonstrating against restrictions , or about the treatment of blacks by police in the USA. Not many sticking to the rules there eh? Would you expect them all to resign

Tahir Ali, went to a funeral. Others attending were gathered into socially distant family groups. He has apologised and said he won`t do it again.
Vaughan Gething? Went for a walk in his local park with his family. Daily exercise, surely? Anything else he is alleged to have done?
Ian Blackford, returned home from Parliament, within the rules, as did Rees Mogg and other Pro Brexit MPs.
First 3 done. Can`t be arsed to look at the others.
None of them were moving around after contact with a suspected COVID victim, or indeed transporting an infected person around.
Is it about Brexit? No.
It was about lies and truth. Now it seems to about lies, truth, and now fake news being spun to protect those spinning those lies.
