I tried using Cornmarket when renewing this time. They don’t let you fill in the usual details on their website; instead, they insist that you leave your number for them to call back. When they did, they asked me to send screenshots of quotes from Compare the Market or give them access to my CTM account. I sent them the shots, and they called me back and tried to tell me that the better quotes all required telematics (which wasn’t true). They called me back again yesterday when I was driving, and again tried to get access to my CTM account. At that point I put the phone down on them. Not the behaviour of a reputable company of any sort.

The way they beat prices is by checking what other insurers are offering and either matching like for like (but cheaper) or having additional services (legal, hire car etc) for the same price.
All you need to do is change your CTM password to something generic like ‘password’ and they do it while your on the phone to them. This way they’ll be able to see that they’re not telematic quotes you were basing your renewal price on.
Always found it worth persevering with them and they’ve always been very helpful, especially when someone drove into me.
I thought telematics where for the kiddies insurance, they wanting grown ups to get this installed now? I don’t even have a bloody clue who I’m insured with, would need to look out the paperwork
