Corley "Irish" services

Poped in to the Irish services “mainly irish trucks in there” known as Corley services
For a spot of dinner

Wanted lamb shank but there was ■■■■ all on it :unamused: so I when for the
Steak and Abbott ale pie and chips and beans and gravy

And I was surprised when I cut the pie open at the steaming coming out of it and it was hot mean burn my tongue hot and chips was nice and beans was so so

Had to get a pic for a mate

Very unlike a services to have steaming hot food…

Well done Corley for the top food

Looks like food for a 5 year old child, and not for a grown man doing a hard days graft, what is so special about that rubbish that is a rip off.
Chips and beans, was it a school dinner?

You call Pie Beanz and Chips Top Food?

How much did that cost about 8 quid?

Wheel nut it wasn’t bad for a service food tho it was gonna be ■■■■ but it was pretty nice

Farnboroughboy Na it was £7.50

To be fair Corley would have the best choice of food outlets if it was Cobham services definately have the best choice of food outlets of any services I’ve ever been to, they even have a Greggs.

Edited Cos I got Corley confused with Cobham. DOH!

Small wonder there are drivers waddling around with bellies over their belts and keeling over with heart disease, hypertension, diabetes etc if that sort of rubbish is regarded as “top food”. The only saving grace would appear to be that it was piping hot, so less chance of food poisoning.

I just dont eat main meals at service stations because of the price, its ridiculous. If I have to eat at a services then I end up eating McDonalds just because of the price. It’s not good when your forced into eating fat food because the price of normal food is too expensive. I have no idea why service stations are so expensive, the story used to go that they were providing a service and were awkward to deliver to, they are the easiest places to get to.

That new services at Cobham has an great choice of foods, even a noodles bar !

Corley must be the new Hilton Park, The Irish lads used to use that as race control, before that Wolverhampton. Next Stop Watford Gap, last one in buys the tea…

The issue (for the Service Area operators) is that they are obliged to provide parking, toilets etc for all comers FOC and hot food etc 24/7, 365 days a year, regardless of how quiet things may get in the early hours/on Christmas morning etc. The rip-off prices you pay for your plate of stodge + grease on a weekday lunchtime subsidizes the bloke who goes in there at 4am on a Sunday and sits down alone to eat his grub. Plus of course they have to pay a fair old wodge for the privilege of being allowed to operate the facility.

I do cook my own food but tho I’ll give the services ago see if it’s got any better

I was gonna have a KFC but the Lamb shank caughty my eye when I saw ■■■■ all on it I saw the Great British pie

On the Great British Pie menu was

Steak and Abbott Ale
Chicken and Wiltshire Ham

You could have mash or chips… Peas or Mashy Peas or beans

I have been led to believe (yes that old get out clause again :unamused: ) that the service area operators have to pay a massive amount of tax money to our government, thats why food and fuel cost so much, they are a business that has to make profit after all.

On the other hand if they were to provide value for money then that would be a good start for a business plan without having to rip people off for crap food.

Lets face it our entire economy relies on us lorry drivers, we cannot work if we’re not healthy so why the hell are we cornered into places that sell us unhealthy food for high prices.

Wheel Nut:

By MSA standards it’s positively a banquet.

Does look nice too.

Would be nice if the MSA’s could operate somekind of discount to the lorryist, i have an app on my phone for daily discounts at Moto’s, some days its decent others it dont appeal.

The annoying thing is that coach drivers get all kinds of incentives for using MWSA’s. Free drinks, meals etc. All kinds of bribery for taking their 50 passengers into a cartel!!

There was about lot of coach in the services but wasn’t that many people in there for that many coachs and cars and trucks “if you get what I mean” is there a special under floor bunker ? For coach people
