Took a driver over to Corby this afternoon to do some shopping and thought while over there i would pop and see what’s going on with my old depot which i use to work out of, and i was shocked to be honest and what a same time has taken over, poor old Corby Chilled was a pity it has ended like this. Here are a few pictures of how it is now, come on bring back Corby Chilled.
In my opinion 1 of the best looking colour scheme lorries in it’s time and fantastic to work for
for some reason stobart didnt want to make money, which i guess thats there busness plan, even more so now where the other companys that have took work over cant keep up with demand

Making money it did but i think greed to over in my opinion
Its a sorry state to let a place go to pot…
Why don’t these landlords think …clean up the parking … most places like this have toilets and canteens in place along with fuel tanks and truck washes so make a few quid and re open as secure truck stops …
That nice new A43 road-through is now complete. Perhaps this will help bring back some warehouse trade to Corby.
Whilst the road works are in place, it’s less easy to get to than a lot of other depots in the reigion, which is probably the reason it was closed down. A bit short-sighted I know, but there’s plenty of employers out there right now who seem to think all the money they stand to make comes from cutting pay, conditions, and property - rather than actually doing more business…
The first time I drove an artic after passing my test was for Corby Chilled out of this depot, one Saturday morning. I remember picking up a load of mushrooms from somewhere near Peterborough after tipping at Budgens Wellingborough. I remember it well. I was so nervous that I forgot to put a tacho in, and didn’t remember until I was 2 miles down the road. It’s interesting seeing these pics because I vividly remember trying to back onto one of those bays, and making a complete hash of it.

It was closed down,Corby and alcester because they opened new depot at Lutterworth ,but 2 into one don’t go ,and it was2/3 weeks of total chaos / meltdown, they actually reopened Corby too store all the lorry loads that were comming back of out of date stock ,it was mayhem,I went down too co-op Andover and they asked me if I was that days, yesterday’s or the day be fores load ,take into account there was 4/5 loads a day going in .
They lost all the co-op,Morris ,lidl,Iceland etc work or there was so little left they just chucked it in .
What I’ve never understood is they allowed it too continue, weeks of mayhem,it was blamed on one person ,but I can’t believe the top brass never stepped in ,loosing millions .of pounds ,but no action

Hello Dozy,
If that ‘one person’ is the one I’m thinking of, anyone who knows him from the CCD days will know that is rubbish. He’s a good bloke and deserves the success he’s achieving now with one of the other top chilled logistics companies.
I worked out of Corby as a driver and shunter, i came over from Alcester where i had worked for Blakes, Express, corby, inovate and Stobbies the whole thing in the end was a sad state of affairs especially to see all the business lost that had passed down through all these hauliers.

Budgens Wellingborough, is that the place with some other name on the signs on the building? Handy that when you’re driving around the estate looking for it.
