Coppers on Ch4 last night

One of my best friends has just retired after 25+ years as a traffic cop and a family liason officer.I would not do that job for the money they earn.We HA traffic officers might arrive first on scene and administer first aid etc,but once Police arrive we hand over the scene,im glad to say.
Im sorry but we cant all be heroes like Yonmons, and I would not want to be.Am I right in thinking that Birch Services is GMP area? From what my colleagues in North West tell me,GMP are same as Herts Police,Completely Useless Near Traffic Situations.I know this first hand from a friend who took his Sgt’s exam in GMP so he could leave Traffic asap.

Any chance we can stop the “cat scratching” and get back on subject at all ladies

yonmons:
Traffic Officer ■■? What type of Traffic Officer ■■? Let me tell you mate I did 25 years in the cops 16 yrs of which was as a traffic cop…including 6 yrs on the Motorway group turning out of Birch Services on the M62 (now defunct) WHO do you think books bodies into the Morg, strips them, pictures them, goes to tell wifes/husbands/ there partners /kids are dead. I watched that proggie fell across it really missed the first 15 mins. Dont give me this aint normal…it may not be normal in YOUR “traffic officer” world BUT in the world of a real traffic bobbie it was an every day reality. I certainly hope you aint a Highways Agency Womble bud !

Yep, A Womble although i dont see what difference that makes? I take it you are one of those who consider we are taking your jobs and get in the way? On motorways we are first on scene at 78% of incidents, we make it safe for Ambo and Fire to work, we keep a crime scene untouched for the Police, we sort the traffic and take the crap jobs off the Police, waste of time we are mate!!

It may have been the norm in your day and in GMP but not anymore. Police dont strip, clean etc victims of fatal RTC’s, thats the job of the morgue staff nowadays, but as i said, sometimes the Copper at scene wants to do more for them. Thats what the bloke on TV was talking about and thats the point of the post is’nt it??
They still have to tell the family and FLO’s have my utmost respect and sympathy, thats something i couldnt do and wouldnt want to.

In addition to that, I have stood and held a dish of water blessed by a priest (Holy Water) whilst blessing the body of a dead 7yrs old kid in front of its parents…DO NOT GIVE ME…NOT NORMAL ! Sorry folks but sometimes in the real world folk can really P*ss u orf !

As you said, sometimes in the real world folk can really P*ss u orf! Especially when theirs is the only point of view or opinion allowed!! When did you stop being a Copper?

Mick

i wouldn’t worry as is the norm for a traffic officer to react like this. It is a big role and it is the biggest in the police force. Theres always red carpet out for them as they enter the nick, they also have there own people to make there tea’s for them. I wouldn’t stress about it, just remember it’s England, we don’t like change!

Before you start, yes i have seen dead bodies at a fatal road accident and yes i do know how it feels.

I am not disrespecting any Police traffic officers out there, theres always bad apples but you do get good and bad ones.

It says ERF not RAF:
DOUBLE STANDARDS - We’ve all heard stories about people being done for eating/drinking behind the wheel of a stationary vehicle, ‘not being in control etc etc’
Then last night Old Bill preaching as usual while eating behind the wheel of his idling car !!! while his mate does someone for having ‘too dark’ a tint on their car windows ?
[zb] JOKE !!

AND THIS WEEK ITS JUST SHOWN A COPPER DRIVING WHILE DRINKING A CAN OF POP AND SPILLING IT IN HIS LAP (ONTO HIS PHONE) !!!
OH, HOW HE AND HIS PARTNER LAUGHED !!! TOSSERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

44 Tonne Ton:
The punishment dished out to the driver who caused the accident involving two cars where both drivers had life threatening injuries defies all logic. She got 5 points on her licence and £100 fine for nearly killing two people.
Then there’s the fella who hit another car pushing the woman into the path of oncoming traffic. He gets an 18 month ban and 300 hours community service. What bloody planet do these magistrates and judges inhabit■■?
I never realised how the level of involvement traffic cops had with crash victims. One spoke of cleaning two children in the morgue so they would be more presentable for the family to identify them. That must be hard. The next time you get pulled by a black rat, try to bear in mind what that officer has seen and done in the past as a direct consequence of bad driving. I’ve certainly found a new respect for the job they do.
Mind how you go…

hi mate they are involved a lot more than people think my wife lost her son about ten years ago in a crash and the officer who came to break the bad news dealt with us all the way thru to the inquest telling me everything that they thought had happened he told us that any time after the accident up to twelve months they will talk about it and keep the records for that length of time,i wouldnt fancy knocking doors with bad news especially children.

I loved the emergency call handlers bit.

  1. Hello. Yeah, this geezer in the shop wont sell me any ■■■■, I have got a record, can you tell him I am 19. :open_mouth:

  2. Hello. Yeah the coppers were supposed to come to interview me, they aint been. Kevin it is an emergency line, Yeah well i aint got no zb credit so dont zb go there you zb :open_mouth:

  3. Hello. Yeah this bloke is having a ham shank :open_mouth:

And wouldn’t you like to be related to those slags who were ■■■■■■ in the street?

While it often seemed the traffic coppers were out to ruin my day, and while some of them were real bolshy tossers at times (same is true of all jobs and profeesions so don’t take it personally), when I was involved in a fatal accident the officers were fantastic, and they had an awful mess to clean up and then go home afterwards.

After the accident, I was told to go to my local nick to present docs, etc in a formal setting and those coppers, the ones not at the scene, were a different kettle of fish. They cautioned me and were really odd about it. Two weeks after, the scene officer called me at home to see how I was doing and to make sure that there were no issues with the company, etc. When I told him I had been cautioned by the others, he told me he would sort it.he did, too.

Those officers that have to deal with these things every day are deserving of admiration… until you get nicked for speeding at 3mph over the odds…

WHOA!! Stop right there! You know who I am extrucker, I’m a Womble in the NW that works closely with GMP officers, comments like that will not do anyone any good, police officers are just like any other body of people (including HATO’s) doing any type of job, the majority are really good, with the a few that aren’t. They have to work alongside each other, sometimes procedures and methods vary causing “differences of option” and mistrust, but on the whole GMP officers work very well together with our guys & gals.
The police job is not a job that everyone could/would do, and when you really need them you’re thankful they’re there.

All coppers are [zb] [zb]s. People should treat them like the low-life filth that they are.

Lol. Stop trying to pretend you’re a real copper let along a Traffic cop when you’re just a HATO. Ok you didn’t say COP but you certainly worded it so people would think you’re a Police Officer. What’s wrong, fail the entry exam?
