Coop Drivers strike?

eagerbeaver:
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the green crew. One of the Appleton lads told me today that they have lost Proctor & Gamble!

trafford park = wincanton :grimacing:

wheelnutt:
Stand up to them? Why don’t you go into your local co-op and see if their customers are willing to pay more so they can keep a few unionised driver jobs going. .

All these supermarket jobs are going, companies like Stobart/DHL/Wincanton/Linde can do it so more efficiently.

Shape up or ship out.

What you’re describing is the total anti thesis of Fordist Capitalism which will have inevitable results regarding debt levels, consumer spending and tax revenues. As proved by the state of the economy ever since Callaghan and Thatcher kicked it all off by reversing the gains made by the unions since the 1930’s to early 1970’s in that regard. On that note have you thought about the idea that the level of spending and resulting profitability in those supermarkets is dependent on the income levels of their customers. :unamused:

Let me guess Unite support EU membership because it supposedly protects workers’ rights. :smiling_imp:

Bring it on. These guys will be made redundant within a few months and prices don’t need to go up in the shops to support their demands.

Capitalism prevails once again.

Your tune died out in the 60’s. Thatcher started it, Cameron is on the way to finishing it and Osborne will put it to bed once and for all. I reckon a conservative government for a generation. Electing Corbyn was the best thing Labour did since 1900

shape up or ship out.

A Conservative government would be wonderful, unfortunately there isn’t a Conservative party to lead one and hasn’t been for twenty or more years.

No your ideas seems as close as it gets to the Chinese Socialist work ethic. While mine are all about 1960’s US Capitalism unless you’re saying that Hoffa was as Socialist. :smiling_imp:

Your version of ‘Capitalism’ ( actually Socialism but let’s not let inconvenient facts stand in the way of cheap labour exploitation dogma ) in action. :smiling_imp:

And when it’s your turn to have your terms and conditions of employment changed for the worse, will you shape up (for “shape up” read “roll over and take it up the [zb]”)

Obviously a full on believer in the Chinese Socialist work ethic. In which doing more for less for our great leader Cameron is the way to Socialist utopia. :smiling_imp:

You are on the money Fatboy!!

Wincanton are taking over at P&G Trafford Park. DVSA XL rated curtains debacle, TC kicking their arse at Teeside, contracts disappearing, it’s all going ■■■■ up.

Yet another thread going astray cos our resident expert on everything from nuclear fission to world politics to how to cure the migrant problem has opened his gob, or typed a few hundred words, but the fact remains, simple … are the drivers going to strike next Monday as planed or not ■■? (my uver arf was asking as she works in a Co-op shop, and as an aside had the police in today cos the delivery driver side swiped someone’s car today and buggered off pdq, likely to be agency! )

Looks like they’re not, its going to ACAS

It seems a bit strange as to why you’ve decided to have a go at me but not wheelnutt’s obvious support of the Thatcherite economics Con agenda that’s causing the problems. As for the question will they strike and more importantly win,in an environment where Union strength and unity is now just a joke,I’d doubt it. :unamused:

Sorry CF, spose it was a bit unfair to have a pop at one and not another, will try harder in the future :frowning:

Union got that sorted…

Of the 87 affected drivers in Coventry, 67 took a severance package and 20 went to Eddie Stobart, the union said.

Sounds sorted to me :unamused:

I would have took the severance package, money for old rope. Just jumped on the agency till I found something else.
