Cookers

Which do you use? am after one and am thinking is it worth getting a double one? should I just get a cheap one off flea bay as they all do the same, or is it probably going to die after week two ? are they any good?

Danka schon…

I use a single burner camping gaz cooker on a CV470 gas canister, does me, and I’m usually out 3 nights a week.
Have got an All Ride oven for warming the occasional pie, or defrosted meal from home.
In my opinion anything much bigger becomes a nuisance to keep setting up (unless you have loads of time between jobs),and the amount of space they take up.

choos…

i have an all ride 24v 300watt oven its great for pies n stuff i wired a household plug socket to the battery (remember you need to put an in-line fuse off the live terminal )then a 13 amp plug on the oven just plug it in away you go

I’ve got a single gas burner, it does the job but I’m thinking of sorting a microwave. At our place in the garage I’ve been told the sparky will sort my invertor with an Anderson clip so I can plug it in when I want to use it. Obviously great news if I move trucks as it won’t be hard wired in. A single gas stove ‘will do’ but it depends how long you need it for.

Until moving over last night I was away between 5 and 7 nights a week.

I rely on a two burner camping fax drive hooked on a long tail to a large bottle which I honestly couldn’t live without.

My old motor had a microwave built in and it was a useful tool for heating up scram Mrs TT had cooked and frozen.

I can’t understand how some drivers live without cooking for themselves. MSA food is rank and expensive and traditional cafes have either turned poncey or there’s no room to park.

I got one of those single gas cookers in a case from Go Outdoors. Get the gas from there as well. Paid a tenner for the cooker and a tenner for 2x4 cans of gas. Gas has lasted nearly six months and just bought another 2 packs as its on offer again for£10 for two packs. Has saved me a fortune!

if you have a b&m store or home bargains near you stoves are only £8.99 and pack of four gas cannisters £3.99 use them all the time bloody spot on lol. hope this helps

What do you lot use to cook with pans or mess tins

^^i use round mess Tina I bought in an American PX years ago. they a tack inside each other and the handle comes off and the big lid clips over the top to hold it all in.

Good old yanks lol , there px shops are better than ours and there in the middle of a desert lol

Get something that coated non stick, tip from my climbing/trekking days, way more easier to clean in a puddle

1 saucepan, 1 frying pan, and thats it, a single burner will do, but a double with a toaster is better, or a camping toaster that fits over the burner, and dont forget a bowl and washing up liquid

PX are usually better than some of our high street shops

I’ve got a single canister type and it’s beginning to ■■■■■ me off, it’s ok for a quick canned meal at lunchtime but for cooking in the evening it’s a pain as you have to cook each thing at a time and when it’s all cooked half your dinner is cold! So am on the look out at car boots for a double one with a proper bottle.

You can buy them cheap enough from GO Outdoors or other outdoor/camping shops.
