What’s on TV magazine have given it a very good rating. Do
you know any films like Convoy then V8KARLV8
as I haven’t seen many others about.

Well if you thing about it when it came out, it was a first as the

film was based on a song, and I bet that it gets watched by more

people than one thinks . I have got it but as vhs video ,

Not very good  Not very good

Its a classic mumble mumble.

I happen to know Brock Yates, the guy who not only ran the Cannonball runs, but also wrote the script for that abomination of a movie. I once told him that I thought the movie stunk (as did the sequel), and his response was “well, I gave the producer what he wanted and he gave me a big check, so I’m happy”.

Your right brit pete it said before the movie started
that the film was based on a song. Smokey and the
bandit and Cannonball run are ok films to watch.
What’s hell drivers daxi not heard of that one  .

I DO BELIVE THAT IT IS AOLD BLACK+WHITE FILM :WITH HUMPHRERY

I vaguely remember a b&w film like that with Sid James in it. Is that the same film?

Btw, HOW DARE YOU SAY ANYTHING AGAINST SMOKEY & THE BANDIT!!!

IT IS A CLASSIC!!! ■■■■ YOU ALL!!!

Just to put a couple of you right;

Yves Montand starred in a French film called ‘Wages of Fear’ which involved running nitro or dynamite over some S. American mountains.

Sid James, Stanley Baker, Patrick McGoohan, and a host of other fifties stars were in a British film called ‘Hell Drivers’, about tipper drivers with bonneted Kew Dodges. Someone on here has got an avatar of one.

Bogey and Gearge Raft were owner drivers of a very old open cab job hauling market produce called ‘They Drive By Night’.

I liked Convoy, but not enough to watch it again last night, but my all time favourite is ‘Duel’. How many times have I been cheesed of by some dingbat busting a gut to get past then slowing down? Surreal though, and all the better for it.

Salut, David.

Thanks for the post Convoy - It’s a great film.

The last time I saw it I was 11 years old, in 1978, at the local cinema.

I watched it on BBC 1 last night, and woke up ‘stingy eyed’ this morning.

Do any of the old people on here remember the U.K. Convoy Song ?

It started like this,

" It was a foggy day, on the 6th of May , in a Scammell hauling bricks"

Come on oldies, you remember Radio 1 in the 70’s :exclamation:

Cheers,

Niall.

Niall . go I come out in the open as well as you and say, Yes I do

remember the song as well. DO you recall who sang the version if so

put it on the forum.PLEASE

I think Convoy GB was listed as being done by Laurie lingo and the dipsticks.
Otherwise known as a couple of radio 1 DJ’s from the time, their names escape me for now.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Chris Christopheson mmmmm, video set, thanks!

 k2k,…
Those 2 DJs…
Was it Dave Lee Travis and Paul Burnett ? :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
