Contract hire.

Let’s say you see some vehicles for sale at £30000, £35000, and £45000. You’ve decided to get one on contract hire.
But you want to work out what each one will cost on a monthly basis.
Is there a simple calculation for this sort of thing?
I know every firm is different, and they all have there own pricing structures, But i’m looking for a rough guide.
cheers.

contract hire
easy one just ask the firm !!!

as they will also do you a price for
lease purchase
hire purchase

I was speaking with a Scania guy quite recently about an ex Stobart machine quite well presented and priced, he told me to walk away and forget it unless I have something extraordinarily different to all the other people he knew who is failing miserably as an OD, his words, the time has long since passed unless you have guarantees, and as we all know, nothing is guaranteed :frowning:

I was looking at leasing/hiring with full costs thrown in for the promise of £400 a day (minimum) doing some work out of Immingham docks as an OD…forgotten all about it now tho.

isnt it about 3000 p/m full maintenance lease incl tyres / servicing etc, or am i imagining it

I looked into renting a scania last year, hand it back it it didn’t work out and they wanted £380 pw +VAT. If I recall I dont think it included blow-out or punctures, only wear & tear. They wanted either 1 or 2 months rental in advance, and that was with 100,00kms per year.

i am in the process of talking to a firm, The equipment that sits on the back of the lorry is a bit specialised, not many firms supply it.
it’s easier with a standard truck as there are loads of dealers selling/hireing and leasing the same things.
the truck is probably worth about £5000, but with all the kit i’d say it’s worth about £25000.
If the guy said it’s £500 per week, Then the job would more than pay for it as that works out at 1/5 of the turnover, but it also works out at £75000 over the duration of the contract.
I don’t want to see them with an empty head, a bit of knowledge about contract hire would be very valuable.
Is there a general rule of thumb. ie. £25000 vehicle divided by 36 months, plus ■■% = monthly payment?

First work out the depreciation. That is the cost now (including any finance costs) less the value at the end divided by the number of months. Then add whatever you think for maintenance, with or without tyres. That’s about it really.
