I’m sorry if this has been done b4.but has or does any body work for them on here any info would be great. ie: how many times to you change trucks in a week or trip especially on the euro work.

I worked there ten years ago. Was one driver one truck then, but now it’s drive whatever’s there, including gib. Moneys roughly £30k salaried. Not sure about shift patterns these days

Gib!!! Also money is a bit more than that but apparently you could be half way down to Gibraltar and have swap over a unit just sounds a bit odd really ,

Swapping trucks mid trip sounds a little odd to me, what’s to be gained?.

I worked there in the late 90s doing the Safeway work to Gibraltar. From memory they had 3 DAFs, 3 Volvos and 5 Scanias on the Safeway work and 4 DAFs and 1 Scania on UK work at the time.

It was a good job really although the policy on double manning could be a bit hit or miss until you hit it off with somebody. That was the reason I left to be honest.

I know they’ve got a lot bigger since then and I remember loading out of here a few years later and Sammy telling me they’d just bought they’re 100th trailer.

Does anybody know if John Mead is still involved?. A really nice guy to work for and I swear he could smoke a rolly with one strand of Baccy in it.

Cheers

You may have seen me pulling those silver trailers with Euro PSL LTD on the sides, or a Garnett Eurotrans, then did a bit for Steve Walker when trading as Keys transport, then Phoenix, now he is Insight.
Parking in Gib was a pain, it was a case of clearing customs, meet a chap on a moped to be escorted to the tip site, and get out asap.
Mopeds all over the place, and flash cars, with young lads who were bringing things in on speed boats in the night.
Fill up for cheap, the drive all day empty for a re-load in Alicante-shoes, textiles, machinery, or Valencia,Onda, Castlllon for tiles/ceramics, that would take up to 2 to 3 days to get a full load.
The address given was always the head office where they do not make anything, or it was a showroom.
The factories were up in the hills, maybe 10 to 12 collections, then allow for their Siesta of 3 to 4 hours, when the shops shut and they go home to eat and sleep.
No point having a shower in the 45 degree heat, wait till the last collection and use their shower.
Sometimes you would run empty to Madrid, in the days of no mobile phones, it was call in with a fax number for a cafe, or use a coin pay phone to write down the details.

Johnny Mead got pushed out about 6 years ago. He was a top bloke

are they taking on

allways hiring it seems but aparently you have to swap trucks all the time so no setling in.
