I’ve picked a few up out of Seabournes, never bothered looking inside unless it was a job that needed a CDOF box (Clean, Dry & Odour Free) they don’t check either, not going out, coming in is a different story. A box or even 2 that are full of furniture are not exactly heavy are they, so I doubt anybody would notice nowadays, might have been different years back with 180hp though.
I’ve had the old “Right drive, get in” myself. At a customer with a loaded 20 foot, a guy in his early thirties who was in charge knocked on the cab door demanding to know why I hadn’t started tipping the box. Told him it was not down to me to unload the box. An hour or so later, the same fella appears with the signed note. The guy says it was x amount of cases missing and asks me what was I going to do about it! He didn’t see the funny side when I said “wait right there while I nip to China!” to which he replies “well how long will you be, I need that stuff.”
Never went to that place again.
