Got a one off job today hauling pharmaceuticals, container has to stay at 20°C can flutter between 15-25.
How ever, as you guessed it…it’s bloody noisey and I gotto night out with it.
Is it possible/ok to turn it off for 9 hours? Or is there a sleep mode? So it cuts back in if temp drops to low?
Ta!
If I remember correctly, No, you can’t get it to switch on and off as the temperature drops.
The gen set is just like a portable generator and runs only to provide power for the built in reefer unit on the container. It would run whatever the temperature.
You can switch it off if you like but whether anyone at your delivery would notice is another matter.
If its pharmaceuticals, it will be worth an absolute fortune, and will almost definitely have a temp tracker inside the load. If you switch it off, and the tracker detects enough of a drop to result in rejection, you could lose your job, it all depends how well your boss takes a multi million pound claim I suppose

As above, also it might have a temp tracer a bit like an old tacho card with a needle which leaves a trace so you can check the history of the temp so i’d say it’s a no no to turn it off, uncouple and pull forward 10 ft or so that will help a bit, also get some ear plugs i have some and they are great.
This was my thoughts…
Anything else I might of gotten away with it…
Ah well. Ears plugs will come out then!
yeah park it in a corner, drop it and drive the unit to the opposite corner

and spend all night looking out through the curtains to make sure somebody aint hooking in to it . If its on constant running you’ll get used to it and get a good nights sleep - the noise of the genset will block out all the other noise .
in 20 years of pulling fridges I never woke at night until a fridge burst a fuel line one night and pumped all the red on to the street - the noise of the fridge turning over trying to start woke me up.
Don’t hook out ’ don’t turn it off
