Well they have just sent you a message (not called you) to let you know what is going on, why are you upset ?

I work to live, not live for work.
Well in that case you would not have a tramping job !
To me thats better than turning up Monday and finding out. Just ingore it, then do as you wish with the rest of the night or the rest of your wife depending how the night goes.

Lots of drivers seem to think it is illegal for your company to contact you during your rest period or for you to contact them during your rest period to find out what your next job or start time is. Based as far as I can tell on this case that went to court in Ireland against a stobart agency company.
commercialmotor.com/news/hau … art-ruling
I can’t see anywhere it states it is illegal although the courts ruling over there could influence a courts ruling over here if similar cases were bought to a court of law over here.
Personally we get a text during the day whilst I am asleep, but I have my phone on silent whilst I am asleep so I won’t get woken up so ill read it when I get up, I’d they expect me to be in before I have adequate sleep or planned to get up then that is their tough luck if I can’t be told in advance. I have my phone so that people who might need to wake me up can do so in an emergency situation. Otherwise it can wait until I am awake.
Don’t stress about it, drink your beer, make love to your wife, enjoy the weekend and worry about what happens on Monday when you get there
See if your work had text you to say that they have increased your pay by 100% would you still have been ■■■■■■ off. I bet if they hadn’t sent you a text then we would have had a post from you on Monday stating your work knew your truck would have not been ready and put you in another truck with no warning.
I think you shouldn’t have replied to there first message
I’d be asking to go on day work until your truck came back if it wasn’t possible to retrieve your night out gear.

this
Your company was only informing you their truck wouldnt be ready for you to drive on monday.
We get calls/ emails all week inc weekends, cant really see it as an issue tbh, better to be kept informed than in the dark…
Read it forget it,sure theres more things in your life to get upset about

I`d be upset too.
On his free time he has been told of a problem. He is not in a position to do anything about the problem. (Unless you think he could leave his wife in the lurch and get a taxi to retrieve his night out gear!). He is going to be in work Sunday so could equally be told then.
It is pointless sending a text Saturday, rather than informing him Sunday.

I see your point mate even if others don’t.
If I’ve been out all week, home on a Friday, and enjoying a bit of Saturday night time out, for a meal with my Mrs, the LAST people I want to hear from (txt or not) or think about is my co, and/or work related stuff…and even more so if like you I was giving up part of my valuable home time the very next day to endure 8 hours of CPC ■■■■■■■■. Could they not have waited until then to tell you?
Also I would not use someone else’s motor to tramp in, especially if all my kit was left in ‘‘my’’ motor in all good faith, ask for a day job for Monday.
You should not have removed your o/p just because you got an adverse reaction from some on here that will put up with absolutely anything without complaint.
That is what is mostly wrong about this job today.
I’m with you mate, no desire to be bothered, concerned, or disturbed with work related stuff on my time off, I do enough hours at it as it is away from home all week.

So if you’re a tramper you have to be constantly on call, and mind on the job 24/7 eh?
…He drives a truck mate , he’s not a member of an elite special ops SAS task force.
Ffs !
I finished work yesterday, then went out on the ■■■■ last night. During the course of the night I received lots of Whatsapp messages from mates, some I responded to others I didn’t. If I’d received one from work telling me my truck for whatever reason wasn’t available Monday I’d simply deal with that Monday. I certainly am not precious enough to get all twisted out of shape by what was in effect a goodwill gesture.

Not sure he was as far gone as twisted out of shape Maost, …maybe mildly ■■■■■■ off , as maybe I would be.
Like I say I can’t be arsed with my firm on days off, but maybe that’s just me.
Anyway why am I even talking to you when you ignored my Whatsapp.
At least some one in your office had the sense to tell you it’s off road !!!

He might have been in a previous life, there’s quite a few that you meet in rdc waiting rooms.
