I don’t get why anyone would want to live on a modern housing estate anyway, awful places, willingly paying to become human battery hens in your very own little identicage.
Understandable i suppose if its that or having to stay in one of our fast changing for the worse cities.
But…isn’t it the same with other things in life? Like people will beg to be let in a country, then once inside will start demanding others (who were there before them) begin to respect THEIR way of life (which may or may not be interfering/opposing the way of life of locals) or else they scream “DISCRIMINATION!” and eventually vote their own (for now only) mayor who vows to finally give them all the free stuff they’ve been waiting for since they arrived many years ago and not just half the free stuff as until now…
And who would opt for a shoe-box beside a major motorway, like for example that blandfest near Banbury. The chinese water torture effect of constant, droning traffic and monoxide fumes can’t be good for mental and physical harmony i’d wager

Given a choice I doubt few would opt for that. But there aren’t thousands of affordable houses sitting empty, so those houses will be easily sold.

True enough but,to revisit an old hobbyhorse of mine, there seems to be bountiful supplies of green land in the shape of golf courses that could be nicely tailored to become newer types of villages etc.The vast number of them is astonishing, why not trim them down a few holes and build more handsome gaffs, those white panelled cluster on the A13,just before Tilbury should be rolled out more.Houses that compliment their immediate envoirons rather than degrade them,3d printed, orange cubes seems to be the template these days, which ain’t good.
We’ve had a new housing estate built next to our place at Shaw Cross, Dewsbury. So far the NIMBYs that have bought the houses have complained about lights shining into their houses (so we now have to use dipped lights in the yard at night), no sounding of horns, and this is the real p**s take, they complained about thr noise of the jet wash so we’ve had it put on a timer so it can only be used between 8am and 7pm!
It makes you wonder why the council gave planning permission in the first place and what the muppets thought when they came to look at the property.
