Compliance Bonus, Anyone?

A local tipper firm has started this. Bonus is there each week but is withdrawn if you don’t do a full 15 minutes daily check. You also need to send in defect note daily, have sufficient breaks etc and you download your card weekly.
Anyone else on such a scheme? Sounds like a pretty easy way to earn a few extra quid per week.

A bonus for taking sufficient breaks?

[zb] me. :unamused:

I can’t think of any other job where breaks are considered a nuisance. Every other worker in every other industry looks forward to their breaks! What is wrong with some lorry drivers? Why do they need to be incentivised to STOP working?

I have sufficient breaks and then I have some more breaks and then I have another break.

I’d smash that bonus every week (unless someone was watching to see if my 15 minute daily check was spent actually checking and not just drinking tea).

Ah but how much is the bonus? It has to cover the cost of all the extra tea drinking surely?

How can you send in a defect note daily if nowt’s wrong with the motor ? And yes sounds easy money .

Quite easily really. You tick all the boxes and send it in. :unamused:

I’m thinking of a defect note meaning that there is a defect.

Haven’t downloaded my card for a while, already got three separate companies trucks on there… all short term agency hops. :open_mouth:

Always make sure I am showing at least fifty minutes worth of breaks in a day. My philosophy is if you are showing exactly 45 mins then DVSA are more likely to view you as a rush merchant, whereas 50 mins shows me as a chilled out dude that drives more sedately. Its kinda true as keep rigidly to the speed limits nowadays, as too many folks out there trying to extract easy money.

We get a compliance bonus.
You only lose it for damaging stuff…and even then it’s gotta be something really stupid.

I used to work with a bloke who would do his fifteen minutes of checks religiously every day. He maintained that fifteen minutes was all he ever needed to ensure that he was up to date on facebook and twitter! Scary really given that he was the driver of a V-reg Scania 18t which went into three ditches in the six months I was there!

Sounds like the company in question has had a brush with the DVSA over it,so now they have to be seen as doing something about it so next time DVSA come in they will go straight for the drivers over any issues because the company has taken action to encourage the employees to follow the necessary procedures.
