If you’re driving is bad enough for people to actually make the effort to report it then you’re doing something very wrong.
People by nature are lazy so its too much effort to report most of the time.
I don’t think it’s a lot Dozy. I do think that it’s unreasonable to expect us to maneuvre these massive beasts around without upsetting people now and again. Who the hell do these car drivers think they are? They’re only going to some bloody garden centre ffs, it’s not like they’re on an important journey like we are is it? I’ve seen the tv series so I know that you fellas quite often only have three or four minutes to find your delivery, get tipped and then find somewhere to park up for the night. I’ve been thinking along the lines of them old Russian priority lanes so that us truckers aren’t bothered by plebs in cars at all.
Of course I could be talking bollox and you could once again be firing for effect with a ridiculous post.

Hell yes.
I think that’s a lot myself, maybe one or two here or there can get filed in the bin as road incidents, but 5 in 12 months shows a pattern that maybe the driver isn’t all that great.
Must be getting some one else’s share, I’ve had no complaints in 52 years!

Try apologising for holding folks up, a simple apologetic wave diffuses a lot of non event situations.
Also try not driving like your on premod…
One of our ‘Hero’ Drivers got 2 complaints against him in the same set of roadworks, within minutes of each other, apparently he was tailgating & in a hurry to get home.
It’s only a matter of time before he kills someone ! But they still let him carry on.
Seems daft to me, surely if you keep allowing your drivers to carry on driving like ■■■■■, it’s got to affect your O Licence & insurance after they’ve done all the clear up & investigations.
One place I worked we had a soft transport manager. Was good at organising vehicles, but crap at people. If there was a phone call about our driving, he would call you immediately. When he did, you would just say ‘sorry Fred, cant talk. I’m driving.’ and that would be that. You would never hear about it again.
There was a fleet of 40 vehicles from cars, through transits, crew buses, 7.5 ton, 18 ton and half a dozen artics.
One guy smashed 6 company vehicles Including a rental transit that we had on loan while the last transit he smashed got repaired. He was still there when I left.
One of the Team leaders used to try and get as many complaints as possible in a week. His record while I was there was 13.
Another team leader used to get caught by speed cameras pretty much every day. He would claim he didn’t know who was driving.
Memorable complaints I’ve had about me were;
In a box junction (I was turning right).
The classic “a stone blew off your tipper” when I was loaded with sand and sheeted up.
Holding someone up on the A420 (single carriageway).
“A brick fell off your lorry” when I was loaded with clay (and sheeted).
Tooting up ladies. I admit to this one, on many occasions.
Making too much noise in Burford. Loaded going downhill, Jake Brake on, scared tourists.

The depot boss said he was going too work with me on the issue ,no mention of p45 ( when you can’t get drivers ,even a bad one is better than no driver ) ,
Whoever runs that “1 800 hows my driving” rang a boss I use to work for years ago trying to get him on the scheme.
He replied with “I’d be on the phone all ■■■■■■■ day & night, now ■■■■ off.”

I’ve not had one in 20 years. Doesn’t come as a surprise you’re getting one every couple of months though.

let be honest we all probably annoy car drivers when doing our job, but to me the fact that 5 have bothered to go via the call centre thing and complain would say yes its a lot.
never had one and been driving 19years now.
I’ve had a couple over the years, even had one ring the TM & complain that he didn’t see me on a roundabout when he ran into the back of me! I think it takes a fair bit of aggravation for someone to ring in & complain so I would say yes, 5 in 12 months is a lot. Unless you work on the dodgems of course.
At a previous company that i have worked at they started out putting the phone number on the vehicles, after a few months the gaffer,soon changed this as was sick of the complaints from the car driving muppets/lemmings who often don’t have a clue how to drive themselves never mind criticise another driver, did he sack anyone , no did bollok anyone,no did he have a good chuckle, yes and remove the company phone number off the vehicles
All this about TM’s beliving what these idiots ring up complaining about and then sacking or bollocking drivers for it, is another clue how zb’ed this job really is now
