Complaint

I’m no time served old hand lorry driver. But I’m yet to drive any auto that either myself or my colleagues actually like. Heard good things about the Volvo, but never driven one.

I just don’t see how anything that runs in the wrong gear so much can be any quicker or more frugal than something manual.

You should try a Volvo then, about the only thing they get wrong is dropping a gear right at the crest of a hill sometimes, as they cannot see that’s excusable and if you flip it back into manual as you approach a crest at the bottom of the green band it won’t do it.

Driving on a single carrage way in a national speed limit area, I had a women phone my company to complain I was holding up the traffic and only driving at 45 MPH. My transport manager suggested she called the police as I was speeding.
End of complaint.

The thing I like about the modern volvos - is that USB port in the radio…
I’ve played my mp3 player through it OK, but I’m wondering if it’ll work on just a basic memory stick as well?

I feel sorry for the drivers of auto dafs, its impossible to pull out of a junction or roundabout without nearly causing a pile up…you can get out and have a pee by the time its made its mind up

you can add iveco drivers to that group its horrendous , i have perfected my sorry face for such incidents

Despicable things. We had a 26t CF on hire. Mick, a fellow driver who despises truck writing jumped out at Marble Arch to write on the back door, IIRC, I do know how to drive this vehicle, the gearbox doesn’t, advance apologies.

Should have been painted on if you ask me

I hate that USB port, I was disappointed to find out that even though my truck is newer than my iPod, it doesn’t recognise the newer iPods

The radio does have a Bluetooth feature and so does my iPod, but as I have to use the Aux socket for my satellite radio, I use that for the iPod too, it isn’t a big deal, but I could’ve made a better job of hiding the wires away if I didn’t need to switch between the satellite and the iPod and I hate visible wires

Does it need to be formatted FAT32 do you think?

I would imagine the newer Ipods use a “newer” format like NTFS which is notorious for “not being recognised” in “Old” radios stuck into “New” wagons…
I’ve got some slimcard memories with a USB adaptor. I’d like to think I can scan in one of my CDs, stick it on the memory card, take it to work, and play away straight off the card inserted into the slot…

I have absolutely no idea mate, my technical ability is limited to on/off switches

Think you’ve gone a bit off track to the op there. Lol.

I had a complaint rang in about me a few years ago, I pulled onto a roundabout in MK & ‘Mario Andretti’ came flying around from the right, saw me, had to brake/slow down & gave me the Horn-so I stopped-peeing him off even more !

Got called into the TM’s office the next day, he asked me why I stopped ?
I just said that I thought that there was a problem (after hearing the horn) so I just Anchored up & checked my mirrors to make sure that it was safe to carry on.
Nothing more was said. Lol.

This is TruckNetUK, not RailNet, we’re allowed to go off-track, that’s why we’re given steering wheels :grimacing:

Once, when driving a 16 seater on Private Hire work, my company was phoned about ‘my terrible driving’, because there was a section of road, 3 lanes into 2, and I let 1 car in, but didn’t let the 2nd one in, so they phoned and said that I was a terrible driver, I’d tried to ram them off the road, I was using my vehicle as a weapon and I was a bully…

The operator just burst out laughing - not the response I think they were expecting - and then dragged me into the office when I got back with a serious look on her face, started telling me about the call then broke down again laughing like a mad woman

I remember a car driver stopping me to complain that part of my load had come off the top of my tipper lorry and had landed on his car and that my load should be sheeted. When i pointed out to him that my lorry was actually empty he ■■■■■■ off pretty quickly!!!
Ignore it. Tell the company to prove it otherwise you are innocent by law.

Something along similar lines but involving dash cam with one of our drivers, on the M1 through the roadworks between the M18 and Mansfield, our driver overtaking a truck in first lane, a car overtaking in third lane pulls in front of our truck and slows right down and speeds up, the usuall and keeps doing this, even going into the first lane to do it.
Our driver is getting seriously ■■■■■■ off at this pricks antics and gives him the lights and blast of the horn. He gets back to the yard to find out the car driver has rang our company up to say our driver was trying to ram him off the road and intimidate him.
Our gaffer rings the car driver back when he has viewed the dash cam footage and asks if he wants to continue with the complaint and take it further, he says yes so our gaffer then explains that our trucks are fitted with dash cams and all he can see is him driving like a prick and in a dangerous manner and as he wants to take it further we’ll be passing said footage onto the police and he’ll be looking at a charge of dangerous driving.
The reply back was one of surprise and a “oh errrrr ok then why don’t we forget it then”

Good boss that pal

SteveWalsh:
Always fancied 1 of those stickers on the back of mine saying ‘‘Hows my driving’’… With a premium rate phone number linked to my bank account

Then drive like a T***

Way to go, brother

I do love driving a plan white wagon.

If it was me, I’d go for his throat at this point - and file the report as said. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:
