Company withholding tachos Advice please

Hi all again!!!
Just come back to the thread after a day of sorting out…new cvs, listing firms, wasting time on direct gov` etc etc helping young un to find work.

Seems i struck a nerve in some quarters…did not come on here to bleat…far from it…just needed a little advice from folk who know more than we do!!!

Nowt worse that going in all bluster and getting shot down at the first hurdle without knowledge,my son is new to the trucking game…and what i know only comes from taking an interest since he started 18months ago!!

On the plus side all his old agencies who provided work previously have welcomed him back with open arms, most saying suprised you lasted that long and that TM is a total prat…two of those the agencies will no longer supply drivers to him!!!

So its back to door knocking,cv sending and the rest of the usual…any info of firms looking for class 2 drivers who would consider drivers with 15 months experience would be appreciated… info on localish agencies who have real jobs on their books…trying not to waste time registering for non jobs .so if you are on an agency thats pulled out let us know…will drive anything, class 2,7.5t,3.5t ,hoss and cart, days or nights…25mile radius of winsford, cheshire…will travel further if tramping for a week at a time …anything considered…we know its a really slow time of year and dont expect miracles!!!
Again thanks to all that replied and apologies to those who we raised their blood pressure…not intentional !!

I know I am a bit late with this but (Very surprised nobody else picked this up

Cheers Gents…all their drivers have a box which goes out with them on each run and handed back in at the end of shift…they are instructed to leave tachos and paperwork in the box…thats where they are at the minute making it difficult to get…hes been told hes not allowed on the premises now[got offically finished yesterday 11th] but one of his old agencies have told him hell be back on the road before the end of the week......so no tachos no work then!!!

This practice is illegal anyway as the driver should keep the cards ■■? and their system does not allow this to happen if the driver has to hand his tacho card in after every run.

Glad you got the problem sorted out your son did the right thing by standing his ground to keep the cards for the required 28 days.

Now when you have your last pay from him send them back one at a time when they are 28 days old and naturally for get that envelopes require stamps.

Then when all have been returned advise VOSA that the TN doesnt know what he is doing

How can I put this delicately so as not to cause offence? Oh, I know!

Think that worked.

The driver has to have charts for the previous 28 days with him while he is working in case he has to produce them, he doesn’t have to keep them with him 24/7, take them to the pub, have them on the bedside table watching him have ■■■ (alone or with someone), or have them in the car in case he gets stopped while popping to the chippy. Nothing illegal with leaving them in the office after every run as long as you get them back before leaving on the next one. Probably better practice than having drivers take them home.

I would be inclined to still give VOSA a shout on receipt of my final cheque from them.

For what purpose

He’s got his charts back, the TM or whatever he is will have learned that he can’t always get his own way, seems like a good result to me

Wasting VOSA time, I wonder where that comes in the 8002 Sanctions Book. £75 probably
