Passed my theory a little while back and now struggling to save the money for the lessons and test (thank you FORD FOCUS! ).
Does any one know of any companies in the Avonmouth / south west area that take on and train potential drivers?
Also any advice on this? I know I could end up with a cr p company but I wouldn’t be jumping into anything.
It’s no doubt going to be worth waiting the 6 months for a Christmas bonus but no guarantee on that and I not particularly enjoying things in my current job.
Also just to add my credit rating is shot so no chance of a loan

Brakes in park royal offer class 2 apprenticeship, It may be worth contacting the Bristol site to see if anything is available.
bald bloke:
Perhaps try XPO at the coop in Avonmouth they sometimes put their own class 2 drivers through to their class 1, certainly no harm in trying .
XPO is exactly who I’m trying to get a job with . the ones who do the Coop contract.
My uncle is a day driver for them and said they are a good outfit, know another guy who did some time with them too.
As far as I know they like you to have your class 2 first make sure your a good fit then put you through class 1.
Don’t know if they have any sites near you but Gregory Group put people through class 2 and 1 in their own training scheme they’ve got going. Can’t tell you anything about pay, working conditions or anything of the sort as I’ve not dealt with them at all, just read about that a few times.

Thanks for this, a quick Google and it turns out I pretty much drive past their Bristol depot every day and never knew!
They have a few vacancies also so I have dropped them a line.

My brothers just done his Bus driver training through first and they run a very good imo scheme.
Basically they pay for your training then when you start driving for them they take £10 a week out of your wages and it’s put into a pot,if you leave within 2 years they keep all the money BUT if you stay for over 2 years you get back all the money in your pay packet!!
So it serves as an incentive to stay but if you leave First get back a propotion of your training costs.
